Do yours ever get hot. I have mine on 1.5k an it heats up the dust cap alot

you got issues brah, 4in coil getting hot on 1.5k is a FEAT. clipping, distortion, something is going on.

and if you have to ask, dont do it. it is rated for 2500wrms, run it at 2500wrms or less.

Thank you. I didn't want to be the first to say it but somethings is really wrong there. The old UFO BTL's with a 3" coil can take twice what your putting to that sp4 all day and not get hot.

I though it was common for a speaker to get warm. Heat is heat. I believe the high temperature is playn a role. My car is park in the sun basically all day. I just played my system for about a hour an it barely got warm. But I will purchase dd-1

all speakers gain heat and warm up, BUT the surface area of the coil is there to dissipate the heat and cool the coil along with pole vents/pole plugs, etc. The sub is built to cool down as fast or almost as fast as it heats up. a 4in coil should take 4k thermally all day on a clean signal, possibly more. I feed 3in coils 2-3500rms clean and they dont even get warm, not a clamped number so... you know.

edit, beginning of summer, houston texas, 102 degrees, 111 in my truck, ripped on a level 5 (3in 8 layer) for 20 minutes straight on 3k, barely warm after, btw no AC either.
