OrionStang
Just wondering if bad rca's can cause an amp to protect. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread

OrionStang
Ok, I think thats what I got then. RCA probably got fucked up when the DD fried. Because when I hooked them to the 200.4, it protects immediately. Glad I got extras. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
sprkn_ranger
Hopefully the RCA output on the deck is ok if the amp did mess up the rca's Quote Check out my build log! 4 Havocs in a blowthrough http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/187506-sprkn-rangers-blowthrough-build/
Wicks
Have a DMM? Measure shield to center conductor on each side. Should be a very high resistance. I'd you're below the mega-ohm range they're iffy. Then measure center conductor to center on each side. Should be under an ohm. The only scenario would be if the rca's were shorted between the center and shield. That would be impressive if an amp caused an rca cable to short... If that's the case, I have access to an X-ray machine. I'd pay to X-ray that cable.......out of curiosity. bassface
Maybe a bad rca cable caused the amp to fry?
Wicks
An open cable is like no cable = no problem. Any decent amp has protection from shorts on the input and output so no RCA cables should be able cause amp failures. OrionStang
RCA was good before the fireworks show. It isn't good anymore. Swapping all the rca's before the show tomorrow. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
