I sold the Type R! I had it hooked up to a little Sony Stereo in my garage where all my dad's workout equipment is. He liked having it out there so he bought it from me haha! I also just ordered the SA-8, so hopefully it'll get here sometime next week!

The SA-8 should be here on either Wednesday or Thursday. I've got enough wood already to build the box, so I'm gonna try to get everything cut out for it tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I'll make sure to cut it out on Saturday. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm not gonna spend time making this thing pretty, so I should be able to knock it out in a day or two. So now I really just need to hope that the SA-8 doesn't have anything horribly wrong with it to where it won't work at all. I'm hoping for a tick at high excursion, or possibly messed up tinsel leads so that I can just do direct leads.

Here are some pictures from building my box for the SA-8.

Little mockup

Today has probably been the nicest day we've had in the last three months or so...

P1170049.jpg

I don't see this too often

P1170050.jpg

Revoracing247 came over and we had a little box building party...

P1170055.jpg

Few walls on. And yes, my port is only 1 inch wide haha

P1170060.jpg

Back wall on.

That's all the pictures I have. I just need to get the port pieces in and then I can start gluing it all together. I'll try to do it before I go to bed tonight.

Is that 1" MDF? Where'd you get that?

Haha nope. 3/4".

After talking to some people, it sounds like probably should have put more port area on this thing. But I did get the box done!

Nice little port maze

Glued together

And then after a bit of sanding and rounding over some edges

I'm just gonna be using two bolt terminals on this box so that I don't have a bunch of wires on the outside of the box.

It sounds like the SA-8 will be here wednesday, so I've got a little bit of time before I get to actually try this thing out.

Not right away, but eventually. I might have enough spare wood to make another one, but I'm not completely sure.

I got home from school to find a package on my table!

P1170072.jpg

Awww yeah!

P1170073.jpg

These things have some pretty gigantic motors for 8s...

P1170074.jpg

I might have to reverse mount it someday

It leaves a ton of room in the back seat!

Right after I took the SA-8 out of the box, I hooked it up to my amp to try to figure out why it hadn't passed quality control. After doing some free air testing, I found that it does have a bit of a rattle, but it's really not bad at all, especially at lower volumes. This thing can MOVE too! Haha

I am for sure going to be a building a new box for the 8 once I get the time. The box I made has substantial amounts of port noise at lower frequencies and it is a bit annoying. It shouldn't be a huge issue when I have friends in the truck for dirtbiking, though.
