I'm able to run my 1700 at 1ohm nominal dropping from 13.8/14.0 down to 12.7 full tilt. Thats on 138a After looking around online for oem specs, it looks like it's a 136 amp alt. I know that the smallest alternator for my year was 117 amps. My guess is that that one went on the v6 dakotas though. big three????? I'm a few feet short on wire, so that's still in the works. 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 club cab - Sold 2004 Audi S4 Avant - Fi and Crescendo - Stock Bose System - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147725-2002-dodge-dakota-end-of-the-road/?hl=%202002%20%20dakota 136.4 Sealed @ 29hz 137.0 Drivers window open @ 26hz
REVOofRustler
I went out and checked my service manual and found out that I do, in fact, have either a 117 or 136 amp alternator. I tried to ID which one I have, but the identification sticker on my alternator is missing! Great! haha I checked my voltage though, and I'm resting right around 13.5 and dropping down to around 12.6-12.7. Hopefully the big three will help me out a bit with that! 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 club cab - Sold 2004 Audi S4 Avant - Fi and Crescendo - Stock Bose System - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147725-2002-dodge-dakota-end-of-the-road/?hl=%202002%20%20dakota 136.4 Sealed @ 29hz 137.0 Drivers window open @ 26hz

REVOofRustler
Well, after doing all the wiring inside the truck, I was left with about 5 feet of 0 gauge. I decided to use that to get two parts of the big three done. It's nice having an engine swap under my belt for this truck because I already knew where the engine ground was! Body ground It's pretty close to the battery too, which is nice The two wires I still need to get some wire loom for this guy Here's how it looks! I played the same song as before, and now I'm dropping down to around 12.7-12.8 volts. Definitely a nice little improvement! I'm sure once I get some more wire and get my alternator to battery wire done, I'll improve even more! 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 club cab - Sold 2004 Audi S4 Avant - Fi and Crescendo - Stock Bose System - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147725-2002-dodge-dakota-end-of-the-road/?hl=%202002%20%20dakota 136.4 Sealed @ 29hz 137.0 Drivers window open @ 26hz
REVOofRustler
Just ordered 5 more feet of knu wire, 4 200 amp fuses (I found in the Crescendo's manual that it said to use 200 amp fuses, and I had gotten 250 amp fuses earlier) and some wire loom. Hopefully this will all come in on Monday! 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 club cab - Sold 2004 Audi S4 Avant - Fi and Crescendo - Stock Bose System - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147725-2002-dodge-dakota-end-of-the-road/?hl=%202002%20%20dakota 136.4 Sealed @ 29hz 137.0 Drivers window open @ 26hz
REVOofRustler
Got the rest of my wiring stuff in yesterday! 5 feet of Knu 0 gauge OFC wire, 4x200 amp fuses, and 25 feet of wire loom! Got all my Big Three cables cut Looks messy! After gettin all the wire loom on I think it looks pretty sweet with the red zip ties... Body ground Battery positive After looking through SlappinBass' build, I realized that it was actually pretty stupid to have the engine ground wire mounted to the block where I did. So now that one is mounted right on the alternator. Anyways, before all this I would sit around 13.5 volts and drop down to around 12.5 volts. When the voltage would drop, it would stay there until the note changed. Now I'm sitting at 13.7 volts and barely dropping below 13 volts! It would get down to like 12.7 for a split second on some notes, but it would always come right back up! My plan now is to get the truck deadened and de-rattled before I order the Fi. Some songs seem to hit all the perfect notes to make my truck rattle like crazy, and that's getting pretty annoying. I'd also like to get a dd-1 before getting the Fi, just so I don't end up blowing it right when I get it! Haha Well, that's all for now! 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 club cab - Sold 2004 Audi S4 Avant - Fi and Crescendo - Stock Bose System - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147725-2002-dodge-dakota-end-of-the-road/?hl=%202002%20%20dakota 136.4 Sealed @ 29hz 137.0 Drivers window open @ 26hz
REVOofRustler
Time for an update! I got tired of looking at the crappy paint job I did on the box, so I decided to take the time and actually make it look pretty. I picked up some Bondo to fill in all the screw holes and imperfections on the box. Unfortunately, I didn't take the time to understand the directions, and I didn't mix in any of the hardener. Two days later and the Bondo was still tacky... Here it is when I first put the Bondo on This was after a day of waiting for it to dry... After using a putty knife to scrape off as much of the Bondo as I could Then I broke out the palm sander and got all the rest of the Bondo off Then I opted for some wood filler to get it done After it dried Sanded down First coat of primer Started to get dark so I had to set up the halogens Here it is after priming it and several coats of gloss black. I thought it looked pretty nice! I went mountain biking at a place about an hour and a half away, and there was no way I was gonna drive all that way without a sub, so I threw the box in my truck without any clear coat and went up there for the day. After getting it in my truck it had gotten a bit scuffed up, so I pulled the box out yesterday and threw a couple more coats of paint on it. I wanted to paint the port blue to match the dust cap on the Fi, so after putting another coat of paint on it this morning, I waited over an hour for it to dry before I masked it off(the can said it would be dry enough to handle after an hour). Here it is all masked off Turns out I really need to be a bit more patient when I paint things... The paint hadn't completely dried, so some of the newspaper had dried onto the black paint, and there were parts in the port that I should've sanded down (and primed...), so the paint would just roll right off some parts. Here it is after sanding off the spots with paper... The port... The drips are from desperately trying to cover up the black spots that you can see at the front of the port. So that's how the box sits right now. I'll probably get around to fixing it later this week. 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 club cab - Sold 2004 Audi S4 Avant - Fi and Crescendo - Stock Bose System - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147725-2002-dodge-dakota-end-of-the-road/?hl=%202002%20%20dakota 136.4 Sealed @ 29hz 137.0 Drivers window open @ 26hz
