SnowDrifter
I have a kenwood head unit hooked up to a crossfire BMF600.4 I was wiring up some speakers, forgot to turn off the car, and arced my allen key against the chassis of the amplifier. Now all of my speakers make a loud buzzing noise(loud enough that I am concerned that it might blow my speakers). It is like an awful ground loop. If I unplug the RCAs, the noise goes away, and I can play music directly from my ipod to the amp(without the head unit) normally too. So what do you think I broke and how can I test for it? Head unit? Amp? RCAs? ...All of the above? OrionStang
Try switching rca's first. If that doesn't do it, you probably damaged the h/u. Power off when making connections, ALWAYS. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread

SnowDrifter
Ok so good news and bad news Bad news: I think it blew some sort of fuse in the head unit. Good news: I had an SNI-1 laying around and that fixed it Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

Riley Evan Houser
Mine used to whine and make weird noises..was a ground loop. Most people run into these problems now days because most cars aren't uni body chassis like they were back in the day.. Most grounds in the trunk are only as strong as their welds. But, glad to hear you fixed the problem
