Twostrokeking
Here is the sealed side. Here is ported. and the sketch up model I did. Please let me know what needs to be fixed or if I actually did it right! The port is 14" long and the enclosure is for 2 Sa-12's. Let me know! Thanks Quote My Truck BuildSpending money on things I don't need, to impress others I don't know.At the end of the day for me its about the love of customizing anything and everything to limits or even past reasonable.-SkyHighCarAudio
Sanitarium
Looks good to me. Edit: just make sure you know how much of that port needs to poke forward of the box to complete the transition into the cabin from the bed, and design accordingly. The less port you have inside your box, the less displacement it causes (i know i know, sounds stupid, but sometimes people need the reminder) Edited July 30, 2012 by Sanitarium
Joe X
If your port length is 14 then don't use 12.5", the external part of the port is just subtracted from displacement. BTW it seems nice at 12.5, just build accordingly.
john253a
Joe is correct the port length is the overall length and external length is how much protrudes outside the box Idd reverse the subs Sealed 1cuft each Ported 3.7net at 47-49hz 60-64sq" of port
White Lightning
I wouldn't cut a square into your truck's metal ... your acordian boot will not go on and seal properly and leak water like crazy ... my suggestion would be to oval shape it or something ... Twostrokeking
I graphed the box in bass box pro and it Isn't very flat. Cuts off at about 46 hz. One note wonder. I heard the sa12s aren't very good in a 4th order. What do you guys suggest I do? I really want to stay with sundown. Real96SS
Can you post a screenshot of your graph in bassbox pro? White Lightning
I have a strange feeling that this style enclosure is not going to give you the output you desire ... Most people doing a blow through usually runs 4 15s or better for massive output through the port ... For nothing larger than a pair of 12s, I would suggest a more simple ported style enclosure like mine using the front baffle as the back wall instead of a "blow through" port ... That way you can adjust to your desired tuning instead of settling with a "one note wonder" port, or extreme low tuning ... I also would suggest a nice 32 htz tuning for those drivers for a tad bit of SQ and a healthy amount of SPL ... That enclosure being mated to the back wall cabin area should give you a very nice "gripping your throat" deep bass like mine ... Then again. Just my suggestion here ... That right there is a great answer. The problem is I don't really want to cut out the whole back wall .. Is there anything that can be done but without cutting out the whole back wall?
