KMS Posted August 12, 2012 Report Share Posted August 12, 2012 I'm looking at buying a new car and see a lot of them have aftermarket stereos. You know, just the cheap entry level ones in decent cars. I fell as if they cheap out so much on a headunit, they may even cheap out on buying an adapter. So I have a question to installers or people who bought a new to you car. Is it pretty common that people skip the adapter and just hard wire their headunit? My last car was hard wired from previous owner, I couldn't solder the wires on since they were really short and way back in the slot. I was always paranoid that the car would catch on fire. I just don't want to deal with that again. Also, where is the best place to get a wire harness? Might try to look up some up there and see what they have for ya. Shouldn't be more than 30 bucks for the wiring adapter and dash kit. BTW what car are you looking at getting?
