Impedance Rise

Would wiring a D1 subwoofer to 2 ohms be a bad idea? I'm not 100% sure on how impedance rise works but wouldn't that double the rise? The lowest load I can put onto my next amp is 2 ohms. I was trying to find a D1, D4 or 2 D2s subwoofer(s) for my next build. But I'll cross off the D1 possibility if what I am figuring is correct.

really?.. so I was wrong about the impedance rise doubling? sorta was looking for a reason why. but I guess that works.

For the most part, rise will be the same. Music is dynamic so what you rise at at a given frequency changes dependant on frequency. If the lowest load the amp is stable at is 2 ohms, then just wire it there and enjoy. If you're truly worried about power output and woofer output, then match the rms. That's my $0.02

ok thanks for the info. But would wiring down or wiring up to certain impedance make a difference? Just for future reference

imp rise doesnt really matter unless you are competing and you need the most out of the amp.

Jeep Cherokee 4dr -4.75 in front, new rusty's 4.5 in rear leafs -micky thompson 35x14.50x15 -locker rear -Rusty's offroad Engine/transmission/transfer case/crossmember/gas tank skid plates -Warn front bumper with 8000lb winch -Custom rear bumper -Warrior product tube doors (summertime) -Optima redtop (starter) -26XK miles and still runs like a bat out of hell

Ok thanks, the plan was 1 hdc3 15" d1 wired to 2ohms on a 1200w @ 2ohm amplifier. Some people say that 1200w isn't enough for the hdc3 15. So I was more worried when I figured the impedance rise would double since I wired it higher instead of lower. Still planning though

1200 will be fine, people watch too much YouTube and think every sub needs 4556)88(544888.9977 jigga watts to be cool.
