Hey folks, I am very new to car audio. I am looking for my first system, I am currently wanting a great brand to start with, but is under 700 dollars. I would like either like 2 10's or 2 12's in a box and I don't know whether to go sealed or ported. I like deep and low bass a great most of the time, but sometimes I like them higher punches. Any help on what to get or how to set it up will be greatly appreciated. The set up will go into my 1995 GMC Jimmy 4 door 4x4 4.3 v6. Thanks for reading

If your just starting out with a somewhat small budget then i would get a better quality single 12" in a ported box and better quality amp to power them with.

Use the rest on a second battery and big 3 upgrade.

01 Ford focus ZX3

Pioneer AVH-X491BHS

PPI PC 4800.2

Morel Maximo 6.5" x2

No I don't have anything as of now. I mean a decent/good brand and not no crap from wal-mart lol.

What would you recommend as a good brand that is fairly priced on an amp and sub?

Did you typo your own username? My suggestion is to slowly piece together your system.

Start with a good headunit. I suggest pioneer, kenwood or alpine. I prefer Kenwood and the eXcelon units to be more specific. Once youve installed that, get some door speakers. I'd suggest a 6.5 component set for the front doors. Get a rear set of coaxials or components if you prefer. Then get a decent 4 channel amp for the front and rear soundstage.

At THAT point you should get a substage and your sound will keep up. For your space 2 12s would be just fine for starting in a ported box tuned to mid 30s. Brand doesn't really matter at this point. I'd search around and see if anyone is running any of the equipment that the forum likes, for example, DC, Skar, Sundown, Fi and so on. The prices are good and performance will be phenomenal if the box is built correctly.

Biggest part of the install will be the quality in which it is done. Biggest important thing for me to have a good sounding system is SOLID electrical connections and a well thought out and built box.

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

first and foremost start with the H/U................this is my opinion. and start piece by piece. if you have a small budget and want bass right now you will end up paying in the long run. what i mean by that is you will by something you can afford and not be happy with it and end up buying something you really want. i had to wait close to 10 months for subs. just be patient grasshopper.............................
