This thread officially just became epic...that kerfed box is a work of art! and an SA-8 V2, super cool. Only issue I have with this, is I was planning this exact same project lol. Guess I'll have to come up with something new lol.

Very nice i was looking at sa 8 s for my build. How much power u guna run to it? Worried it will effect output of the t line?

thanks! and right now i plan on running as much as i can give it, so 300w lol but i bought it so i can save up for my bigger amp and still run the same sub so hopefully soon ish i'll be running about 1K on it or so.

i bought it used and the guy before me had it on 1700w. and i actually build the horn for the JL that's my friends and so im building the box for him. but he's in idaho and so i'll have it for a little bit. im gonna be putting in the sa8 to see how it does lol and im gonna have to reverse mount it.

im guessing you can tell which one is the sa8

Very nice. Love the kerfs. Any recommendations on places to research the ins and outs of folded horn design? This is something I am interested in as well.

thank you! and im happy with how the kerfs have came out so far.

and i do have places you can go! hope you're ready to read some dense stuff lol

http://www.quarter-wave.com/Horns/Horn_Theory.html

i can usually only stand about an hour or two of trying to understand the stuff before i have to take a break

and also i use HornResp to get the spl graphs and stuff. it only calculates them in home rooms though. can't model them for in a car. but still it gives ya a nice idea of the differences between the different designs

I think you have a bit of truck stuck in your mud bro

haha thank you! lets see how it comes out in the end though lol it's my first time for a lot of things. im just a sucker for trying new interesting things, and sa8 v2, i agree, really cool. so happy i got one.

and wait like a folded horn for an sa8? lol if mine flops on its face then you can learn from me and make one thats better!

Sweet kerfs!!

they're fragile though! i had to re-cut 3 new boards from accidentally breaking them while moving them around before i glued them in place.
oh and i forgot to upload these last night. here's some comparison shots of the SA vs the JL

I actually purchased a license about a year ago for Martin's mathcad worksheets...didn't have time to mess with them till recently, but now I can't get mathcad installed on my computer because my install of windows 7 is all messed up! but i just reinstalled windows and haven't felt like doing another reinstall lol.
