Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed.

Makes me kick myself that I didn't invest more time into something like this for my box... How about some more details on the polishing wheel, please? I tried to polish an aluminum bar that I bought and it was a disaster.... The pad either instantly shredded or melted to the bar and left a nasty mess. Or the polishing compound that I used would spray EVERYWHERE as soon as I spun the polishing pad/wheel. Was the polishing compound a solid block? You don't have to push it hard against it, you need to gently hold it against the wheel and.(and offcourse you need to prep the bar by sanding it very smooth first.) Great job again Robola, your attention to detail is exquisite. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
robola 46 Posted February 14, 2013 Author Report Posted February 14, 2013 I’ve taken some pictures of the subbox with the lights on. This wasn’t that simple. Once it’s all finished, I’ll ask a friend of mine, who has some professional material, to do a shoot for me. He took shots from the interior-lighting from the bimmer last year, and that was BAM! As you can see I chose red. The interior lighting is also red and white, but white sounded a bit “boring” for me. The only thing I can’t stand, is the reflection of the LED’s in the polished bar. I had this in the bimmer too, that’s why I’m going to experiment with this problem… If I can trust the weather-man here in Belgium, it’s going to get pretty cold again…so the thing is that I’ll have the put the works on pause again

CarbonWarrior Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 I actually like the reflections. Adds a bit of a "Laser light show" kind of effect to the whole thing. Same with the way the light striates and looks like prismatic lines on the speakers and other surfaces. I know that having just the glow is probably what you want, but I'm digging the additional effects.

You can’t compare this install with the one in the bimmer, that’s another league. But I try to this as good as possible in every step. Hopefully, I saw the work on the Bimma. I’m this far now, that I don’t have much work polishing something, because I put a tremendous amount of work in the preparation. Sanding, sanding, and some more sanding till all the scratches are gone. I also don’t know with what material you are working with, but that’s so hard to explain.
