too much power doesnt cause clipping in a sub. the clipping happens to the waveform, so that is completely gain, hu settings related.

as far as too much power, that is up to you. you need to experiment with it, thermally i think you are fine, mechanically is where you will probably have issues.

he means how far the cone will move. The coil could jump out of the gap or bottom out.

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.
