kandiman71874 Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 so lets see here. 4 subs that are recommended to be ran in 2-2.5 cu ft each so we'll figure 10 cubes total net. a 15 x 5 port eh. so thats 75 square inches of port for 10 cubes. So you are telling this guy he only needs 7.5 sq in of port per cube when the basic industry standard is 12-16 sq inches per cube with some variances based on power and box size? Alrighty then.... He was joking...its obvious to see since op gave almost no information Joking or not, it took me all of 20 seconds to find the box specs for that woofer. If someone is going to reply in a thread looking for help and actually wants to help, they will put forth a little effort themselves to actually help rather than just being a dick and spuing random BS that they know is misguiding. LT.Smoke Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 Sorry it was late and i was fiberglassing alot of things. I should've put more info, so ill do it now. I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 2 Kinetic 2400 batterys (need to upgrade alternator). I am installing 4 W7 13.5 AE's, which each would have a JL 1200/1HD amp. The box is going to be 10 square feet. Dimensions will be Height of 18, width of 40 and Depth of 30. All the wood will be 3/4 inch mdf board. I will most likely stack 2 sheets on top of eachother for added rigidy. I want a single port that will be able to hit a good majority of the frequencys clean (im new to the audio world so sorry if its a stupid question to ask for help on the port size and stuff). Im not sure which way the port should face and what size it should be. Thanks I am not sure about what size the port is I myself am not very good at that part of a build.... As far as port direction the best combo i have seen is subs up and port to the rear... Seems that does the best in SUV's from what I have seen Team MaxRetribution Si Vis Pacem Parabellum Id rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 Bowhunting- Life Begins and Ends at Full Draw Bowhunting Team Fatal Trajectory Hunt Team http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/49335-sick96vtecaccords-t-line-build/?hl=sick96vtecaccord << Accord Build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/68498-smokedout08impalas-tline-build/?hl=+sick96vtecaccord << Impala T-line build Rebassed.com for all your music needs 👌
CLNSHVNnDRAGGN Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 who knows. but he left out a ton of information so I just assumed he was doing a wall. I also assumed how big his box would be and what his tuning would be and came up with a port size that way. Is this the new way to deal with the guys who come in and their first post is "design me a box for subs to get teh debeez!" I love it. I'm going to recommend a 15x5 port for everyone now. When someone actually listens to you and them complains that it sounds like ass don't forget to tell them to move it. www.facebook.com/BILLatDivineCreationsPhoto He was taunting me. He's all like "come at me bro!" So I'm like "I'm coming at you bro!" And he's like "hey, fuck you" *chomp*. Then I killed it. I win. ^^^ you have truly taken being a lazy fuck to a new level tonight, an MRE. WOW
MrSkippyJ Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 Yeah my bad. Shoulda put a sarcams disclaimer on my post. It's easy to forget sarcasm doesn't translate over text very well I was going for comedy, not jackassness. AGuyWithAJeep Posted November 11, 2012 Author Report Posted November 11, 2012 Wheel well to wheel well is 40 inches, rear seat to rear hatch is 30 inches, and the height can be up to 56 inches i believe, but that would be to much cubic feet lol. But i have some room to play around with the dimensions. Would it be better to build a wall? Or maybe bandpass the box?

Why do you say he can't reach that? From the dimensions he gave I get 12.5ft^3. Take .84ft^3 for displacement and that still leaves 11.66ft^3 before the port. He should be able to make that work. www.facebook.com/BILLatDivineCreationsPhoto He was taunting me. He's all like "come at me bro!" So I'm like "I'm coming at you bro!" Guess more comprehensive measurements would be useful.
AGuyWithAJeep Posted November 11, 2012 Author Report Posted November 11, 2012 So i should add a couple inches to the height?
