Jeffl
so looking to build a new box for my sub since I've gotten a bigger amp, and I'm not sure what size to make it so I'll give you guys a little specs to throw around. RE SRX D2 12" http://www.sonicelec...io-SRX12D4.html like the link but dual 2ohm instead of 4.. and a MB quart ONX1.1600D amp http://www.sonicelec...ONX1.1600D.html . As of right now I have a ~1.90 cft box tuned to 35hz I want to give my sub about 600-750 rms (way over powered but I know it can handle it and if not its not your sub so shh ). I've heard that smaller box can take more power but at a cost and i know bigger boxes are usually for running your sub with less power but I know all subs are not made the same. so I was thinking about just going with the recommended box size 1.5cft +port tuned to 35hz, so pretty much just make a smaller box. but ideas of should I or go smaller? or bigger are still options to me for now.. Jessica
building the box smaller on;y gives you more power handling mechanically, not thermally. So if your coils can't take the juice, it doesnt matter what size box you put them in. Just sayin. Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. Omega5002
If you want to run 600-750 rms, and stick with RE, get an RE SEX, or SE if you can find it, that little thing is gonna blow if you feed it that much power. 2003 Kia Sorento Team Subsonic LowsTeam Bassin' on a Budget2016 Rebuild Under Construction Best score: 150.2 at 40hz (3k, 2 Custom HDC3 15's) Usaci style(door open, in the kick)
ChevyBoy95
i think its funny how you think that little thing can handle over twice rms. YES IT CAN!!! it is in the description! "Like all of the RE Audio subwoofers, they are capable of accepting much more power then the recommended RMS. For excellent performance for a great price, check out the RE Audio SRX car subwoofer." LOL dont give it more than 300 there bud. CleanSierra
Thermally, that sub CAN take 600W clean, I did it. However, you're wrong thinking the sub can take 600W mechanically. This is what happens when an SRx gets 600w clean all day for 1 year: Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

LOL dont give it more than 300 there bud. Agree with this^^^ I have experience with the same sub. When the surrounds on both subs shredded from my Fosgate T1000bd, I can assure you 600W is too much. Go with the SEx as has been mentioned, or run the sub at 4 ohms off if that amp, rather than 1. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you. cmw5e
you made pretty much the same thread twice . . . but as you can see from the pictures and what already tried telling , no sane reason to put that much power to those bottom of the line subs
Jeffl
Thanks for the replys, but I was asking if I wanted to give it more juice than recommended what should I do about box size? I know your just trying to save me from blowing up a woofer but am I asking for you guys to save my sub? Nope just asking for idea's on how to improve my box. So I'm going to ignore that posted comments above since they have nothing to do with my original post.
