WillPwn4Food Posted November 23, 2012 Report Posted November 23, 2012 I recently just acquired 2 FI BTL N2's and 2 Planet Audio BB2400.1's. One amp ended up being defective so I'm getting it replaced. In the mean time, I'm running the BTL's (Dual 2's) on 1 PA (Wired to 1 ohm. Amp is 1-ohm stable. Yes, I realize with the other amp I'll have them wired to .5) Well right now, I'm having issues. When driving around town banging on it, it's fine. But just today I went on a longer drive (2 hours to my hometown) after about 30 minutes, the amp went into protect and was super hot. I had the bass knob turned almost completely down. No voltage drop, hardly heard any bass. What things would cause it to overheat over a long period of time but not around town? Subs were not hot. Still room temp. It's just the amp. WillPwn4Food Posted November 24, 2012 Author Report Posted November 24, 2012 Awh snap. I'm pretty sure I just had a dyslexic moment. They're dual 1's. So it's wired to 1 ohm right now. And it was going into protect at an almost unhearable volume. It's fine at a high volume for 15 20 minutes. Same as if I have the volume super low... After about 20 minutes it goes into protect. The first amp was DOA. Never got to see power even. As well, I replaced all of the speaker wire today, so I'm positive they're wired correctly to 1 ohm. (Replaced crappy 12awg kicker wire with 10awg knukonceptz) Wall build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/174827-walled-taurus-with-lambo-doors/#entry2571893 real men dont use fuses Neither do moronsSays the guy with lambo doors on his Ford Taurus.
