REVOofRustler
Hey! I'm planning on building a new box for my truck. The box I have now is port forward, sub forward. I've heard, though, that sub forward/port driver side works pretty well. The sub I'm using is a Fi Q12 with the cooling options, extra spider and internal leads. I'm running it off my BC2000d, and it's wired at .7 ohms nominal. I'll be keeping the box over on the passenger side of the back seat. I'm pretty happy with the box I have now, but I wanna try something different, and get a little more experience with building boxes. Torres Box Let me know what you guys think! ToNasty
looks ok except that looks like a lot of port area. does that sub require that much? and you only have 2 common port walls ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
REVOofRustler
looks ok except that looks like a lot of port area. does that sub require that much? and you only have 2 common port walls I think typically you want to stay around 14-16 square inches of port per cubic foot. I've got just over 15 sqaure inches of port per cube. And I think a 2 common port wall would center port, so the two common walls would be the top and bottom of the box. Thanks though! 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 club cab - Sold 2004 Audi S4 Avant - Fi and Crescendo - Stock Bose System - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147725-2002-dodge-dakota-end-of-the-road/?hl=%202002%20%20dakota 136.4 Sealed @ 29hz 137.0 Drivers window open @ 26hz
alaskanzx5
higher port volume can make the box a more peaky. tuning at 31hz im assuming you not looking for spl so a smaller port area might be better for daily use. all depends on what that sub like to though. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz. I don't really mind if it's not quite as flat of a reponse as I have now. I'd like it to peak a little lower, and play a little lower than the box I currently have (tuned at about 33 hz with like 14.5 square inches per port). I'm also gonna be getting some nice components soon that have a pretty low frequency reponse (Crescendo Mezzo's), so I can have those help out with higher frequencies. 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 club cab - Sold 2004 Audi S4 Avant - Fi and Crescendo - Stock Bose System - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147725-2002-dodge-dakota-end-of-the-road/?hl=%202002%20%20dakota 136.4 Sealed @ 29hz 137.0 Drivers window open @ 26hz
Joe X
With all those slanted cuts you must have some skills and tools to do it properly. Other than that you may want recheck your calculations as the new Torres have been misbehaving in some cases.

Other than that you may want recheck your calculations as the new Torres have been misbehaving in some cases. I've got the tools I need to build it right. The box I have now has the same amount of slanted cuts in it, and it turned out pretty well! Im still using the old torress until the new one gets all the bugs worked out I just went and plugged everything into the old Torres, and I got that it was just over 2 cubic feet with like 16 cubic inches of port at 32.5ish hertz. I did all the math on paper too, and the older Torres is definitely more accurate. No. Box volume, tuning frequency, subwoofer t/s parameters, and vehicle response will determine if the response is peaky. Maybe if you make the port so small that it does not act as designed at high volumes, you might see different results. . .
