Advice on where to ground!

hi everyone i am about to install my new system and im going to have a 240 amp machman alt 2 xs power 3400s a crescendo 5500d and 2 AA mayhem 18s, now as far as wireing goes i have a 0 gauge kit and im going to get a 50 ft spool of 0 gauge so im going 2 runs of power back now my question is do i have to run the ground for the back two batterys to the negative on the main battery or can i ground them to the frame to save wire, also does it matter if its the same ground i use for my amp, thank you

You can have a negative run. Most people gain when they do but it's not necessary. Grounding to frame is just fine. Also you can ground your amp to your back batt negative noe

Thank you for the help you have no idea how much i appriciate it, the amp has dual inputs so can i ground them both to the back battery?

I have 3+ and 3- runs to the rear bank and have more wire on the way am going to do 2 more + runs from the alt to the rear batts and 2 more - runs from the rear bank to the frame. You can never have too much electrical.

i know im just saying for a short period of time i plan on adding additional batterys aswell iv just spent quite a bit of money and the old lady is starting to get mad, ill have to add some more later

yes ground them both to the rear batt is good.

Also, don't forget to fuse both sides of your positive run from front to rear battery. (within approx 18" from your front battery AND your rears.)

ok, so snafu as been showing people how to correctly ground their batts alt and amps and no one is giving his advice still?

go to the ce electrical section and do some reading in those threads, lots of info.

do the big 3, alt power wire to front batt, batt ground to fram, alt case ground to frame. from there run a power wire from front batt to back batt. ground rear batt to frame, ground amps to frame. the only time when running a ground wire from front to rear is when you frame is rusted to hell and back. the frame has been proven to be the better grounding point.
