I was thinking of ways to increase excursion in a sub, and it seems to me that most subs are limited by the frame, suspension, and motor. So, I was thinking of ways to eliminate that, so there could be more mechanical limits. So I figured, why not eliminate the constraints of the frame from the equation? It's pretty ridiculous, probably really impractical, but here's what I came up with: Since the spider is outside of the frame, the only way for there to be a pole piece is if I supported it from in front of the driver, and behind the spider. This will also allow for 100% centered excursion. The only limits that the frame now has over the sub is the cone. And now the spider can be as big as the cone size, for extreme excursion capabilities. What you guys think?
