Mix matching different ohm subs

Recommended Posts

I should have done a little more research before purchasing this second sub, but I now have a T0d415 and a T1d215 sub and was going to power them off of a T1500-1bdCP. Would it be bad to run these subs together on this amp? I have all 3 items listed already and in prep for making a new box. Would be wiring to 3 ohms at first. (d4 to 2 ohm, d2 to 1 ohm, series wiring). Wiring down to 1.33 somewhere in the future..

I've heard this isn't recommended but what would happen? Would it be doable if the T1 receives more power since it is 1000 watts rms? T0 is 800 rms.

Any thoughts, opinions, or advice?

What's the logic behind it not working? What would happen if something like that was done? I suppose this excludes using two of the same subs on one mono amp with one in a sealed box and one in a ported box..? I've thought about doing that before.

Well, you can do it. Should you do it is the question. Your money, your time.

edit:

what i mean is, at best you have to put them in separate boxes. If they go in an enclosure where they share the same airspace you will have issue like cancellation and unloading and other things. Just don't do it.

i suppose if u dont put alot of power into these ideas that they will work.... for a little while....

these amps and subs arent tested 2 work in funky setups and the consequences are random

u could be dealing with cancellation issues just 2 name 1 thing

blown outputs blown subs are a strong possibility

is it really worth it? u have some expensive stuff

if i were u and i really must have both of those subs

i would get them each their own amp

Go ahead and do it. You're obviously set and fire won't start raining down the second you do.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
