SlamminBeats Posted December 26, 2012 Report Posted December 26, 2012 They said it should be resting at like 13.1-13.5. So, i do not have a charger for this, can i just hook it up as close to my alt as possible and let it charge that way?

memphisBred Posted December 26, 2012 Report Posted December 26, 2012 I've heard 12.8 -13.2 as far as resting voltage and to charge it if the voltage is below 12.6. You can hook the battery up without charging. Just got the info that comes with the battery. It states to charge the battery before use if it's below 12.6 V. REVOofRustler Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 I've got a D2700 that was just under 12.6 when I got it. I got a CTEK 7002 and threw a charge on it before putting it in my truck. It rests at like 12.7ish and that's with topping it off every night. 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 club cab - Sold 2004 Audi S4 Avant - Fi and Crescendo - Stock Bose System - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147725-2002-dodge-dakota-end-of-the-road/?hl=%202002%20%20dakota 136.4 Sealed @ 29hz 137.0 Drivers window open @ 26hz
corona_jeff Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 Normal resting is 12.8-13.2, you batts above 12.6 so it's good to go and don't need to charger first
armykyle1 Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 YOU NEED TO CHARGE A BATTERY BEFORE USE.... Read it in the information included with your battery. 12.76 is perfectly acceptable. My D3100's all rest from 12.8 to 13.1, that's after sitting with a charge. SnowDrifter Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 Weird... All my batteries rest at 13.1-13.2 I'd say you should be fine. Toss it in the car and go for a drive for like an hour if you don't have a charger. I'm not sure where you got that from? Nathan will tell that himself, if you ask. The instructions with the batts are a general good practice. Topping them off won't hurt, but in some cases, people don't have a charger, and 2 there using the wrong kind. So if they don't need to buy one then go with it. Personally I would suggest anyone investing in Xs batts to buy a charger, but I know it's not practical for everyone. Hell I own 3 of there charges, 1 mobil and 2 mounted in the xterra. They prolong the battery investment if maintained properly. But remember over charging a battery with the wrong charger is just as bad and not maintaining at all.
