My battery light came on earlier. Car won't start.

Recommended Posts

Got up this morning for work, started the car up, just fine. But I noticed my tachometer wasn't working. So I turned the car off and went to start it again, well whadya know. Now the fucker won't even start. Battery light is on and I can't even shift it out of park. Battery is fine, alt was fine last I checked. I'm at a stand still. Vehicle is a 92 Toyota celica if it helps. Anybody got an idea?

This may be pretty stupid, but have you tried putting the brakes on when you turn the key? I know a lot of cars won't do anything when you turn the key and won't let you take it out of park unless your brakes are on.

Check the fuse box. It may be a blown fuse on the charging system. Happened to mine, killed my tach and was telling me that the alt wasn't charging.

Check underhood fuses maybe. My truck wouldn't go outta park once but I just started hitting the wheel pissed off and it let me shift. (stuck I guess)

But no tach signal & such makes me think fuses or a bad connection somewhere.

Yes I've tried the brakes. I've checked all underhood fuses and none look blown. Looked inside the car and none of those seem like they would halter the charging system in any way
