Hello!

I have plans for purchasing two LVL 3 15" and a DC 3.5K amp, should i go for subs with dual 2 ohm coils or dual 4 ohm coils?

With dual 4 ohm i get to run the amp in 1 ohm and with dual 2 ohm it get's down to 0.5 in the theory. Is 0.5 the way to go because of the impraise?

I will mostly play music but i wan't to be able to go loud also.

The car is a BMW E39 540i/6 Touring.

Any thoughts?

get two D1 subs and you can wire them to 1ohm.

edit: ok i just checked dc's website because I didn't know if they made d4 lvl 3 subs, but they do so yes you can get two d4's and wire to 1ohm. You can also wire at 1 ohm with two d1's. And NO don't wire at .5

Lower impedance builds more heat, dirtier signal, taxes the electrical more.

But kids today want them LOUDS so.......

only wire at .5 ohm if your willing to blow your amp..not saying your going to but it might happen

I know what it takes to run an amp at .5, but i don't have any experience loading DC amps at .5 so i wanted to hear your thoughts.

So will the 3.5K amp and 2 x lvl3 15" d4s be good or do i need to get an 5.0K?

If you are wanting to power 2 Level 3s with the 3.5k, I would go with Dual 1 ohm subs and wire to 1 ohm.(I would also add the Level 4 upgrade to the Level 3 subs).

If you wanted to drop down to .5 ohm(this will void your warranty and requires a stronger electrical system to properly supply the amp), then I would run a pair of Level 4s.

Idk why anyone is saying powering 2 level 3s with a 3.5k is a good idea. First of all of he's not sure about dual 2 or dual 4 should he really be going double the rms rating with the amp?

Why not a dc 2k for the pair
