Why does my amp do this?

One Way

If you set your deck at -5 it might be clipping. but then again, with the -3db overlap it might be fine.

Still the instructions with the dd-1 say use the 0db for the headunit.

why are you playing your comps or coaxes full range? do you have somethign else setting the low end of the crossover? most comp sets dont like playing all the way down freely. you may be clipping them out at a low frequency and the amp doesnt like it.

remember your dd1 isnt showing if its clean at those low frequencies on your fronts its checking if its clean at 1khz.

Why not set your gains at volume 32?

i have had a few kenwoods, and all were good to 35 of 35 no clipping, tested with a dd-1 and o-scope.

I have them cut at 60 htz (recently changed it to 80)on my deck and setting them on full range I get a better sound out of it. Don't kno if that's correct but I've read somewhere that I can set the comp on full range you just gotta cut them off so it won't play the real low frequencies.

As for the setting the amp at 32, I'm not trying to go around the situation and avoid it. I want to find out what it is.
