Kranny
An alt spinning backwards will have cooling issues. this is true. is there a way that mechman or whoever can just mount the fan backwards?
OrionStang
Doesn't work that way Kranny. It would have to be machined with the fins reversed, talk about money. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
E a r t h
Ken, what you would be attempting to do with your original post , is re-invent the wheel. You could always go with a 370xp. The only concern I would have with that would be belt slip, which you may, or may not get lucky with. Wouldn't duals have greater idle performance than a 370? Yes, unless two inferior units were used, but back to your 1st post. Your sketch resembles what would require you to re-engineer the alternator. Essentially mounting another unit facing rearward would do the same thing. Only difference would be direction of rotor rotation.
OrionStang
Okay, with bith units facing the same direction, the only hurdle is how to attach the center shafts. Look at the pics I took of my stock alt. Somehow attach a rod from the pulley of unit A to the rear shaft of unit B. Or am I missing something? sphinxbccp
Could you extend the rear of the shaft of the secondary alt and attach a pulley to that? That way the cooling doesn't change? OrionStang
Mine is tucked away nice and tight under the throttle body. You can barely see it here, same color as the car. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
