Got some questions about you and your job!

Recommended Posts

^^^^Thats what I really want to do.. be a pilot..

I currently write technical manuals and Repair manuals for John Deere construction and forestry division. Its not a bad job but they seem to make the job 10x more tedious than it needs to be (that and they pay me $3-4 an hour less than everyone else because of my age). I originally was going to school for electrical engineering when they offered me a job after 2 years. Still finishing my degree (online) and am a F-16 Environmental / Electrical systems specialist with the airforce. Other than that I wait tables for extra money every weekend (i hate it but it helps).

I run an injection molding machine for a off company of GM and it sucks lol. 10 hours a day 6 days a week, pay is good for only being 18, but since we work hand in hand with GM, we have to take time off when they do (which is every time the GM people strike and bitch).
But i just got a local car audio shop to let me come in for a few hours everyday to just clean and stuff. No pay but its my foot in the door :D.. but the guys that work there are well educated so everyday I learn something from them.

I work 3rd shift full time in a factory. I operate a press making sunroof panels for BMW vehicles. Specifically the x3 and x5. It gets boring pretty quickly but it's paying my bills. I'm 19. Hoping to go back to school.

I love my job...absolutely love it.

Recently retired Air Force pilot, currently a DOD contract pilot.

What does it take to be a pilot I heard its hard to get a job I been considering getting my license

I went through the Air Force undergraduate flying training program, after getting my degree, my pilots license, and a commission in the USAF. If you want to go the civilian route, the process is MUCH more expensive (but worth it if you enjoy flying). All you need to become a pilot is access to an airport that has a pilot training center (commonly called an FBO) and around $7000. If you want to fly and make money doing it, the process is more difficult. After acquiring your private pilots license, you need to get your instrument rating (so you can fly in the weather) and commercial rating (so you can legally charge customers for your services). If you want to fly large jets, you'll also need to get a multi-engine rating (self-explanatory) and an ATP (airline transport pilot) rating. Total cost: in excess of $100k. Then you work for beans while you build up enough hours to become a viable candidate for an airline. When I say beans, I mean $35k a year...

Alternatively, you can do what I did. Get a bachelors degree, preferably in a technical field like engineering, and then apply for a commission in one of the military services. They will give you all the training I described above (except for the ATP) in exchange for 10 years of service. While building up your flight hours in the military, you'll draw $80-100k a year.

I'm 38, retired (from my first job...the military) and drawing a pension (commonly called the "check of the month club"...lol. I had fun during my time in the Air Force, and was able to retire while still young enough to start a new career.

CW, I started my career in the Air Force as an F-15 attack control systems specialist (and enlisted). If you want to be a pilot, go get your degree and apply for a commission. If you persevere, ANYTHING is possible.

Dont have a job anymore! Used to work at Discount Tire Co. and was moving up pretty fast because I was one of the best guys working their. Then my uncle gave me a call to go back down to San Diego that he could get me a job as a School Bus Driver. Starting at $14 dlls an hour with all benefits and it just sounded great! I took the school course took the written test and all that stuff but then things took a drastic change. Turns out a lot of school are laying off drivers and were not hiring at all. I was left with all my certifications and no job. Till this day i regret it a lot. I could of stayed at Discount Tire its a good paying company and you move up fast! Not that I wanted to do that for the rest of my life but it was pretty decent for now.

Anyone recommend me any jobs? hahaha desperate for a good paying job.

Fuck my job. Bullshit fucking slave labor. Fuck Target, and all the other greedy corporate multi-billion dollar companies. They were disappointed that our store only did $47M last year, up from $42.5M the year before. Seriously? So glad its not my primary income.

No doubt, most other jobs I've had have been with big stores where you apply to a human resources manager yada yada.

This job however I'm literally working next to the man who owns the company and it's such a better experience.

Fuck working for corporations. It just kills your spirit.

I have several streams of income. The ones Im willing to divulge are Gunsmith, and running a repo company. I was a repo driver for quite some time, Ive worked my up in the industry, and am now "management" level. One of the real reasons they keep me around is to kick ass if need be ( for legal reasons we refer to it as protecting our employees). I was gifted with an innate ability to distribute wholesale ass beatings in a timely and orderly fashion (several years of bouncing at some of the "rougher" clubs and titty bars in the area come in handy, so does growing up in a shitty 'hood and being a dope boy in my younger years). We deal with a lot of low life scumbag dead beats that try to start shit with my drivers or get loud at the office when they want their personal effects or vehicle back... You get stupid with the help around our shop, and I get the call to square it up, be it in the building or out on the road, its funny how many hard asses change their tune when they see my vanilla gorilla ass and realize they are going to get hurt...

I love gunsmithing, but am kind of growing tired of the repo industry. I make good money at both.

Sig'd. What a line.

Edit: Well... if I can get this POS quote thing to work.

i shook this one kids hand and it just folded in mine. long story short i fucked his girlfriendso.. yeah..

You want this to happen to you? Give decent handshakes people.
