How can a car suck so badly, that box improvements gain nothing?!

maybe the box is tuned closer to the peak freq of the other cars.

maybe your hatch is leaking really bad.

Thats the thing though, the hatchback and the van both peaked at 50 - 51Hz.

Off the same power, the van was about 2dB louder, but adding power in the hatchback gained nothing...

its not so much the car VS car I'm interested in, but rather why would one car gain nothing with mods that in any other car would gain...

We had a similar problem in a yukon the fix was siliconing the rear window and adding weather stripping to the hatch seal.

for us we lost the low bass because of leaks and it drove us crazy trying to figure it out . we changed decks ,rca's,amps, enclosures and subs and still no change.

then i heard read the steve glues his back window shut and it made a huge difference it dawned on me.

A lot of important information missing anyways. Enclosure specs? Orientation? Placement? Loading?

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

i read in a sig somewhere, "welcome to the world of SPL, where nothing makes sense."

lol my guess would be port configuration. playing with that alone can get you more than 3 db.
