Wicks Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 no, wire them all the same Please explain your reasoning? I feel like I'm missing something...? Again, One large box, same air-space, four holes. Two subs mounted "normal" (magnets in the box), two subs inverted (magnets out of the box). If this is the case then you must reverse the polarity on either pair of subs while keeping te other pair normal. If the subs are all wired with the same polarity, then all four cones move "outward" with the initial music pulse. Since two cones are facing the opposite direction, two will push into the box and two will push out of the box = cancellation. I understood it to be all magnets inside the box. just 2 mounted on a top baffle and 2 mounted on a bottom baffle. OP DO NO reverse polarity on any of them people were thinking you were inverting 2 of them so all 4 subs were on the same side of the box with 2 of them facing into the back and 2 facing out of the box. all of your subs are facing out of the box if you reverse polarity on 2 of them they will just cancel eachother out and you will get no significant air movement at all Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out. Krakin Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 Or are you talking about a box like this one? All four firing up, two inverted two normal. (personally like this design a lot more) Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
bassfreake Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 Personally i agree that looks pretty sick and the other one kinda reduces air flow from 2 of them i would think unless the idea is wanting to have a Thumper effect or something lol which i would think could tear up the cone... Krakin Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 I think the OP just needs something to look at because he seems to know what he wants in his head but just can't word it right now. (personally like this design a lot more) Thanks for the pics! The first post sounds like this configuration and is what I've been referring to. I agree, I like this setup for an extended cab! If this is the case then the inverted subs need te polarity reversed. stroupe79 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 he was meaning 2 subs firing up on the top of the box, and 2 subs downfiring in the bottom of the box, all magnets inside the box personally I wouldn't do that I would run all 4 on top http://www.stevemead...cherokee-build/ 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alpine CDE-hd148bt Alpine PKG-RSE2 PRV Audio (4) 6MB200 front/rear doors PRV Audio (4) TW350Ti dash/rear doors Kicker KX350.4 Obsidian Audio (1) 18 D4 v2 revamp (2) Stereo Integrity HT 18d2DC Audio 1.2k5.25ft^3 tuned @34hz revamp Infinite Baffle Cpillar AudioTechnix 60mil deadenerKnuKonceptz & SkyHigh wire (complete setup)
Wicks Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 Do you mean a box like this? With two 12's firing up, and two 12's firing down? *Note: No particular dimensions were used to make this box. Later in the thread the OP mentions this configuration and some confusion started. If this is the case then all polarities stay normal (all magnets in the box). Sorry if I caused any confusion...
