DC Power Price - Is it me or is this a bit high?

Recommended Posts

I was emailing DC power about converting my alt to an external regulator and they quoted me $300+shipping for it.

I know it's DC power and their alts are a bit more expensive - but this is half the cost of the alt we are talking about.

Does this seem a bit high to anyone else? I'm a bit frustrated... I want to go externally regulated, but I don't want it $300 bad. I'd be tempted to get the module and do it myself if not for the warranty

That's what I thought too. I know DC power runs on the expensive side because they do their own tooling, use good parts, etc. But an external regulator isn't anything special - just the same blue box everyone else uses.

Just making sure I'm not going crazy lol

Mine was $500 as well

Not what I'm talking about. Yeah, my alt was 600 something. But I'm not talking about the alt. I'm talking about the regulator - an "add on" to the alt

are they knowing that you would be sending your alt in to have the old regulator removed to go externally regulated?

it does seem high, and some one there maybe miss understanding what you wanted, however those blue transpo units alone do cost ruffle 90-120 bucks by themselfs.

But its hard to see $180 in labor for something so simple to do.

I just got off the phone with Kyle. I'm sure it was a misunderstanding or something because he quoted $130 to perform the service.

So I'm all set to go now. DC power FTW!

I guess this could be locked or deleted now. No need for someone to find this on google and have it reflect poorly on their business
