That sucks,you'd think they would "handle" the weight being that's what they put on the batteries but it is plastic so kinda to be expected unfortunately. I'm sure XS will take care of you one way or another with this.

ive carried the bros 7500 by the handle, it seems pretty sturdy, but i always wear steal toe boots

I have handled I dont know how many hundred D3100 with the handles and haven't had an issue myself, but I have heard of a few different people that said they have had issues.

it sounds like the plastic handle maybe becoming a lil brittle after use heat, cool, heat, cool cause brand new you don't have a problem neither did they till after use for a while
