Krakin Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 well the link works. It's almost 1 a.m. here so I'm gonna go to sleep I'll try to help tomorrow, sure there will be some other's chime in too. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
cjohnson547 Posted March 9, 2013 Author Report Posted March 9, 2013 Hey clean im attempting to design a 4th order I will hopefully post it here in the next hour. In the ported portion of the enclosure do I need to calculate for the displacement of the cone of the woofer or is it an insignificant amount with little effect? also is there a rule of thumb on port area?
Krakin Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 Calculate it Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? CleanSierra Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 It's going to be miniscule, and in my opinion isn't worth calculating. You likely won't end up EXACTLY with .30-.35 cubes sealed, and .75 cubes exactly on ported. It doesn't have to be exact dude. Numbers you want to be concerned with are port area per foot and tuning frequency. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
cjohnson547 Posted March 9, 2013 Author Report Posted March 9, 2013 What do you recommend for port area and tuning
CleanSierra Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 Port area per foot on aeros is anywhere from 8-14 inches per foot, slot port 12-16 as s General guideline. Some subs like more, some subs like less port. The 4thI designed for that box was a 3" PVC port, rear firing. tuned to like 46 or 47 Hz. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

hayden55 Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 All i know is that mine gets down on about 400-500w. My box is 0.64ft3 slot ported box. After sub displacement it is 0.56ft3 and tuned to 35hz. Bumps all the way down to 26hz and that is where i set my subsonic. Hopefully if either a) get a better line out converter to fix the crappy voltage input to my hifonics hfi1000.1d and get a good 650 out of it or b( sell the hifonics and upgrade to a kicker zx750 and it will really bump. Right now on 400-500 it sounds great but with the bass knob all the way up 500 just isnt enough for me. 2006 Ford Ranger XLT 3.0l-Rockford Fosgate 6x8s 3-ways- Sundown Audio SA-8- 3.64ft3 tline box in naked mdf- Kicker zx750.1- 0/1 Gauge wires- Pioneer head unit stuff to come:16 steve meade 18's7 rockford fosgate t15000bdcpa fleet of escaladeslol jk new car?
