Verlaist
13.8 is the voltage not the issue. Upon pulling the wire from alt not only were some burnt but also cut (beneath the eletrical tape.) I am surmisine its was arcing upon acceration or something. goin to get a torch and some soilder tommorow and start fixing my termination point as per suggestions, as well as the 1/0 from the alt to the battery. So far no cut outs after acceleration after pulling bad wire. havent pushed the subs dus the dinky 2 stock wires will do tommorow as well. I have learned more in 1 forum post than anything from this idoit shop here in town. You guys rock! Jessica
Take a look in this thread for tips on soldering big wire. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/6399-how-to-solder-large-gauge-wire/ I only asked because you said you crimped and those are not crimp connectors. Good luck man, hope you get it straightened out. Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. My super random youtube channel and terrible camera work. newls1
crimped termination let me get some pics up here in 5How did you crimp it? Just FYI, this is not a crimper. I don't care how it's marketed or if you tried to use it as such. It's not a crimper. Nor is this Or this Or heaven forbid you try to use this... These are not crimp terminals either. Once more, I don't care who does it or what you may think. They are solder terminals, not crimp ones This is a crimp lug And this is a crimper If you tried any of the above combinations, your connections are a fail. Re-do them. Either cut them off, re-strip, and solder with new terminals. Or cut them off and re-crimp properly I disagree... Pic #1 makes for a great crimper if used correctly. YOu might have had bad luck with one, however ive been using one for 15 years and never a single issue.... pontformulalt1
I am running a mechman and kicker amp I have the same issue my amps turn off when leaving a stop light...its because the alt. May not be on at a low r.p.m. And when you accelerate the alt. Is turning on and throwing a split second voltage peak turning your amp into over voltage protection..look under mechman thread for voltage spike this May be your problem. I still have not found a solution either
