yup, its the resistance youre looking for not the amount of subs.

1 ohm is 1 ohm, the amp doesnt know the difference

This is a problem these days, too much people want to answer these threads, often without knowing what they are talking about.

x91Evo, are you actually sure about your response?

To Thurston, If a amp is rated at 1000W at 1 ohm, it will only put out 1000W.

So if you have 2 subs it will still put out a 1000W, that means both subs are getting 500W. (because 500W+500W=1000)

So if you have 4 subs wired at 1 ohm, the amp would still put out 1kW, that means each sub is getting 250W each.

A amp can't just produce 2000W because you connected 2 subs to it, that would mean if you attached 16 subs, the amp would produce 16kW of power.

Because the output of the amp (2000watts) is being divided or "shared" by 2 sub-woofers. So each is only seeing 1000 watts.

The amp has to split power to both subs, meaning each sub would be receiving half of the power that the amp is rated to put out at 1 ohm.

Just as I said, read up about electricity, there is a lot you can learn by using google.

Electricity flows like water.

If you have 2 equally sized holes in the hose, the water will come out with the same power(= volume(amps) x velocity(voltage))

If 1l of water flows through the beginning of the hose, then through those 2 equal holes .5l of water will come out per hole.

There is only 1l availible, just because you add holes(= a load, resistance) the amount of water (=power) won't double.
