We use some kind of liquid clay bar on cars before we wax them where I work at. Cannot remember the name of the stuff but the cars look damn near brand new when we are done.

Tried that. I hate it - never seemed to work for me. The "plastic bag" trick always revealed there was stuff left behind

Alternatively to a clay bar, you can also find something called "NANOSKIN Autoscrub." Look it up - it's solid instead of clay. I've never used it personally, but if you are prepping for a paint correction process, it should work well. I'm not entirely sure I'd trust it on my daily ride though - seems like there is a higher chance of creating swirls.

Never even heard of this

Someone should post a link of a kit. It's a car bar you run over your paint and it pulls up overspray, fallout, road grime, and other imperfections.

Yep, the meguiars kit gives you the spray "quick detailer" spray that on an area then rub the clay over it, it should glide easy without resistance and it just pulls out all the junk stuck in your clear coat

I do mine twice a year.

Doing in the first time is always the worst since the car has probably never been clayed before. But then after that, it only takes a half hour-45 minutes each time because there is so much less embedded contaminant.

Another thing that make it go by faster is to get a paint-safe iron dissolver, since most of the stuff stuck in there is little metalic particles from brake pads. I recomend Iron X for this. It's expensive, but a little bit goes a long way and it really reduces the risk of marring since there aren't sharp bits of iron in the clay

Yeah it was more or less the brownish spots that took me a while. Looks like rust but I've been told its oils or something coming out of the paint? But getting the rest out was pretty easy just glide over it a couple times and the clay pulled it right off

Could you post a picture of those spots you were talking about? Oils don't come out of paint. It's a baked on, chemically hardened layer. Nothing oily about it haha

Industrial paint jobs, like when they shoot big I-beams on buildings, that goes up in the air and It has to come down, and on your car sometimes. That is overspray. fallout is environmental debris that comes from wherever(factories, natural sources)

Well the store I work at is built for speed & to push cars out. 500+ a day, clay bar itself isn't the best for speed. Clay bar will do a better job but the speed isn't there for us.

Wash the car and get all the bugs/tar off of it. Spray the liquid clay bar on small areas at a time, rubber rag to wipe it down and get whatever is left on the car off, then a microfiber to dry it up. After that put the wax on. Start to finish we'll have that kind of wash in & out in 30-45mins.

Love love love clay bar..

just dont get it dirty.....

The best shiz ive ever used for a vehicle bath.. ever

I used to clay bar vehicles for my ex brother in laws mobile detailing business. We used a Showtime slick spray to keep the clay lubed up and gliding across the paint. We would then buff the whole car. We had a contract with all of the city vehicles that got oversprayed from some nearby painting job on a big ass building

What are the steps when using it?

Wash, clay bar, wash again, then wax? Or is wax not needed after using it?

Think of a clay bar as a stripper - it removes everything on the paint. So you'd definitely need to wax after using it

And yes, you are correct in your steps ;)
