But he also has 19 group 31 batteries. So.... Get a bass knob and only turn it up as much as you can while keeping your voltage above 12.5 at all times. I did that with my 3500. Ran it in 2 different cars with the stock alt (and on of them with only the stock battery) before I finally got an HO alt. When you go above 2k watts that's when you need to start getting extra bats and eventually bigger charging system. I would say be easy on the gain when setting it, and watch your voltage and you should be fine until you can get around to upgrading your alt.
