boom50cal Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/38791-torres-box-tuning-calculator-updated-818/ Use that. Add a double baffle, enter your dimensions, sub displacements and play for about an hour. If you use 2 6 inch aeros, you'll probably get away with them at 20 inches each. Rectangular port, shoot for 15 inches of port per cube. You'll be able to get loud and still be pretty musical. Imo, the sweet spot for a musical ported box that can play a ways below it's tuning it 10-13 inches per cube, but you'll run into port noise with anything much below 12 inches per. CleanSierra Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 Oh fuck my face, another one of these threads?!?! Ken(OrionStang) has built MANY setups in a Mustang. You DO NOT HAVE THE PROPER SPACE for 2 15s in the trunk of a Mustang, period. Take some advice and don't built a shitty box that doesn't let the subs properly do their job. This 6.5 cubic feet you have, is this including subs and port displacements? My rough math says your dimensions give 6.77 before displacements. Your port will eat close to a foot, probably more( almost guaranteed more) and your subs are likely.20 a piece or in that neighborhood. So you now have 5 cubes, no more. That's all with a box that MUST be built in the trunk if you can TRULY squeeze the dimensions you've provided. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 BTW, why would you want to have a box that looks like Meade's in the trunk of a Mustang? It's not the right design at all for a trunk car. My advice is to do more research and start over for what WORKS for a Mustang. Good luck and WELCOME TO THE FORUM, always nice to see new members Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Ninja_v1.0 Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 so you come onto the forum, want a box that is designed to work in a tahoe with 4 18's to work in your trunk car with 2 15's and then not listen to a guy that has built countless boxes in a mustang. yep im leaving before i have to end up banning myself When your at the top everyone is coming for you, friends, family, haters and even those who don't know you.. my advice.. IBleedMusick Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 so you come onto the forum, want a box that is designed to work in a tahoe with 4 18's to work in your trunk car with 2 15's and then not listen to a guy that has built countless boxes in a mustang. yep im leaving before i have to end up banning myself You can do that? OP, I have built a few systems in new body style Mustangs and they all share one thing...SMALL FUCKING TRUNK OPENINGS. The trunks in these cars are just not meant for much. I would go down to 12's build the box up nicely and let it get down. Cramming subs in a trunk "whether they like it or not" is like taking the wife somewhere if she likes it or not. Chances are you're gonna lose that battle. Subs will spit in your face if you disrespect them so I would look into either doing 1 15 or a pair of 12s. I am also not a fan at all of subs up in a trunk I just don't think it produces the same quality of sound as a traditional subs forward or subs back setup. 2013 Dodge Charger Build Log 1996 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0Build Log 2005 Honda Civic LX Coupe Build Log SMD SUPER SELLER!!!!My Selling Feedback
OrionStang Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 Forgot to ask the year of the Mustang, not that the trunks vary much in size from '94 until now. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
OrionStang Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 Can't believe I took the time to do this. Recommended specs for the subs is 2.5 per. Of course, with the subs up and the port right up against the back of the trunk, this is gonna be nothing more than a rattle trap. And, this design assumes the port can squeeze between the baskets/motors. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
mavis27 Posted May 14, 2013 Author Report Posted May 14, 2013 Forgot to ask the year of the Mustang, not that the trunks vary much in size from '94 until now. I honestly am not trying to disrespect anyone thats trying to help i just seem to have a hard head.. this isnt going to be any competition box by any means.. not looking to have the loudest and most powerful system in town.. i dont like 12s for 1 reason which you guys will probably proove wrong really quick. i like 15s for the lows that they hit.. they hit hard and provide alot of you could say chest feeling vibration bass forsay.. ive owned 12s and sold them to buy 15s. ive tried many different 12 box designs all the way from 2 cubes to 7 cubes on 12s and in the end they are still JUST 12S.. I honestly do appreciate every bit of info that you guys have supplied.. also if i have come off as a dick or rude im not meaning to come off that way.. ****certified Basshead in training****
