kickass audio Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 dude don't get that old thing. you want a newer one with a faster refresh rate (mHz or gHz) those are super old and slow at responding to little changes in the signal. Just do yourself a favor and get the dd-1 and cc-1. As for getting a headunit with more eq bands, that doesnt mean shit for tuning the x-over. As I found out the x-over on my headunit and my 3sixty.2 are off by quite a bit. Also with any eq you should have them set so the response from your speakers is flat. ncc74656 Posted May 18, 2013 Author Report Posted May 18, 2013 ahh, so the oscope package up there might be to slow to respond and thus give me poor readings. ill have to look into it more, id just really prefer to have a sine wave graph. i currently have a decently flat eq but my issue is my tweets are still getting bass and i need to drop the bass in my eq to stop them from distorting. i just cant seem to get this system crystal clear. i am rebuilding my wiring and fuse blocks and adding a bi-amp setup to try and combat this issue, using a MTX for tweets, eclipse for mids, and kicker for sub. i hope that helps. nothing, gutted
Guest Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 lol i wonder how much that thing will cost to repair once it goes out. cc-1 for crossovers. dd-1 for distortion. both will fix your issues, assuming the user can operate them properly. red lights > having to squint your eyes and zoom/focus/adjust the line on the oscope screen to see distortion. distortion =/= clipping. clipping is easy to spot on a scope since the waves square off at the peaks. distortion isnt as easy to spot unless you have one of those fancy digital scopes that cost more than some peoples cars.
kickass audio Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 You need a good crossover network for that to get fixed. you are doing nothing to fix it. Bi amping helps but most amps don't have an x-over network to get up in the 2.5kHz range where tweeters should be set for high pass. And its not a sine wave graph. Its just an normal o-scope. I have the TPI-440 PLUS o-scope and I use that all the time for all the electrical problems I work on and fix. If you do a lot of fucking around with electrical get the o-scope like that or their next step up model with a faster data rate to view glitches better. If you just plan to tune your system and a few friends just get the dd-1 and cc-1 combo pack. Trust me, it is sooo worth the money. I love that I bought both. My dd-1 went off 1 volume level before my o-scope detected the wave getting flattened out. I even zoomed in on the peak and valley of the wave to see it better but the dd-1 won every time. And setting the x-overs with the old voltage method is horribly inaccurate. A killer deal? It's a cathode tube o-scope. Pretty much the earliest made before they had the electronics invented to display the wave. It's a museum piece. i shook this one kids hand and it just folded in mine. long story short i fucked his girlfriendso.. yeah.. You want this to happen to you? Give decent handshakes people.
