damn sub already got ditched for a car resto next he'll be sellin the sub for car parts lol..im more excited for the car the the sub......i think.........

Lol I didn't ditch it. Like I said, I put the order into sundown for the last pieces I NEED to finish the sub.

I just figured I would rename it so people would stop complaining about over-all car and system updates.

To make this clear for the LAST time: THIS SUBWOOFER WILL BE PUT INTO THE CHEVELLE AS THE DAILY SYSTEM. BUT I NEED TO RESTORE THE CHEVELLE A LITTLE FIRST SO THAT IT CAN SUPPORT THE SYSTEM AT ALL. IM NOT DITCHING THE SUBWOOFER, I'M WAITING FOR THE LAST PARTS.

Coefficient of friction?

The coefficient of friction (COF), is a dimensionless scalar value which describes the ratio of the force of friction between two bodies and the force pressing them together. The coefficient of friction depends on the materials used; for example, ice on steel has a low coefficient of friction, while rubber on pavement has a high coefficient of friction. Coefficients of friction range from near zero to greater than one.

For surfaces at rest relative to each other c668c0e07f40ccd91edc198e6905f1eb.png, where 9c2489d44f4390347ac03a908f208bcc.png is the coefficient of static friction. This is usually larger than its kinetic counterpart.

For surfaces in relative motion 70f6e9656c0413f4e078a2c3c5995889.png, where d38ad39728e3b75b8223cadd9c7cfd25.png is the coefficient of kinetic friction. The Coulomb friction is equal to 53051207705c85f23fde5366e5fa885c.png, and the frictional force on each surface is exerted in the direction opposite to its motion relative to the other surface.

Rougher surfaces tend to have higher effective values. Both static and kinetic coefficients of friction depend on the pair of surfaces in contact; for a given pair of surfaces, the coefficient of static friction is usually larger than that of kinetic friction; in some sets the two coefficients are equal, such as teflon-on-teflon.

If you look at a chart: concrete to rubber has a rating of static friction=1 when dry. Concrete to wood is = 0.62 dry.

Metal to wood is only 0.2-0.6 dry.

But that's all notwithstanding anyway, since I'll be using both, I was just saying for the idea of physics.

Usung jackstands over cinderblocks has nothing to do with friction, but rather that if you're under a car that's on blocks and one cracks, then you're fucked. Jackstands are much less prone to failure than some cheaply poured cement blocks.

Alan I believe he was referring to the catastrophic fail points of a sqaure hole cinder block when a side force is introduced into the concrete because you know that concrete in tension is about as useful as a rope in compression lol. Now if you are using solid cinder blocks thats different and I have done that.

Yeah I got it. But still, these jackstands aren't exactly the golden standard lol. Made in china as the sticker reads. The point is weight distribution over area, like trying to crush a cinderblock with a sledgehammer vs a large wooden pizza spatula, but that would be expecting me to drop the car on it, literally. Which isn't the case, but you get the idea.

And the cinderblocks won't be supporting the actual weight of the car alone, not that they would crack anyway since I planned on using wooden planks running underneath the body when I take it off the frame, the wooden planks will go into the holes of the cinderblocks, there will be more than enough surface area to support the weight of the body alone. I'm not worried in the least.

Lets just try this and move on to the next idea lol

The woofer will be done in a few days once the parts get here? I don't see what the issue is. Are you saying you don't like classic muscle car restorations and system builds?

I'll post plenty of finished woofer pics, but it's not like it's going into the car until it's rebuilt. And yeah you and me both would love a UBL, how about if your requests can get it before my first 3 over the last 5 months, I'll just throw it all in there too.
