i had a fi btl n2 and the screws that held the basket on, if i remember right, were magnetic

If my screws are magnetic, do you think they're gonna mess with the magnetic field enough to affect the coil?

no. the flux from magnetic screws will have a very tiny influence on the (massive) flux generated by those neos.

yeah so you gotta get the sub together now lol.

Just went to home depot since my next class doesn't start until 1:30, bought an aluminum square rod that I plan to cut down to 3" square segments so that the plate will drop with a 1/2" inch clearance over the magnets, hopefully it will drop on and stay aligned with the magnets but in case it doesn't I'll do my best to adjust it if possible. Then I'll yank the aluminum pieces out and it should snap on accordingly. IF everything goes well up to that point, the most difficult thing will probably be removing the last 2-3 aluminum rods, but I can always fold them with a well placed flathead and a mallet if they won't get out......

But I'm pretty worried about it falling off alignment, it's really the only thing I can't think of a way to adjust without damaging, since it's flat and smooth and has noting to apply real torque to, so twisting it would be very difficult.

Also, would it be "alright" to cut the aluminum with a circular saw? At work we always use a miter saw with a metal blade, but all I have is the makita at home with a carbide tip blade, would it work just to cut the 6 pieces? I'm not worried about damaging the blade, I'm worried about the saw getting aluminum shards all in it.
