goodvibez Posted March 2, 2014 Report Posted March 2, 2014 so these friggin things are taking forever! Debating on if I want to wrap them or not? I ordered some actual fabric carbon fiber that scooter99 gave me a link to and I think if I wrap these with it and the inserts on the door panels it should look pretty sweet! But might be too intricate to get it wrapped? we will see and how still body working these things when I get time, threw some primer on there to see my highs and lows better, still need lots of work around the tweeters, I would probably be done by now if I hadn't added those things in but oh well.... Had cut out some more because when I wrapped these I had some lifting issues and well yeah, but speaker and grill fit now, really liking having the greatstuff filled in the voids, made fixing these mistakes a lot easier! and now some glaze/spot filler well, still lots of work to do but just showing that I'm still at it lol! Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. The people who criticize or try and one up you....have a p.o.s to no system at all and will tell you all about this "other" guys system! Saddley I'm sure if I meet this "other" guy...he will probably tell me he thinks your just as annoying as I think you are! I'm not compensating, just proud of fabricating! goodvibez Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 well didnt finish like I wanted to but I can say they are very close! Just a little more TLC around the tweets and they will be how I want them. If I wrap them all this extra work will be kinda pointless because it will hide alot of imperfections but I'm going to color match them first and see. Here is where I got today had to do alot of cleaning on the tweeters to get the trim rings to snap on but I knew it was going to be hard once I added them in. also no too impressed with the bondo spot fill glaze, let it dry for 24 hours and still not cured so took a heat gun to it so I have to go get something else tomorrow Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. goodvibez Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Thanks guys! I think its going to be worth it, did more sanding and another glaze coat on some area's and will do the same tomorrow... This came in the mail today sooo yeah doin the same thing to it and painting it black and white to match...this is off a newer 2007.5-2013 truck The lettters are actually plastic riveted together and was able to just pop them off with a screw driver, no glue like the last one...weird...? Finished painting and letting it dry overnight, in the middle I'm trying out some stuff call wrinkle paint on an old valve cover to test how the texture looks, because I have to redo my dash The stupid rockerpanel texture paint I used I guess does not like plastic because as it looked amazing after I finished it but a couple days out in the sun it bubbled up during the day and then would go back to normal during the night? wtf? so now I get to strip the dash and yeah super fun stuff.....smh... scooter99 Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Don't they have a pre paint stuff for the plastics like dashes and trim pieces? I think SEM sells it. It's like primer for those things. Maybe that will help with the dash. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
goodvibez Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Yes they do! I remember seeing it when i was ordering my color matched paint, and totally just didn't think about it but more i will look into it for sure thanks buddy! goodvibez Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 Alright ordered some plastic prep and plastic adhesion promorter and some texture paint all from SEM from summit and it has shipped! now for some updates...got some CF vinyl thanks to scooter for the link he gave me a few pages back....this stuff is awesome! and decided to try it out on my door panels and the speaker pods had to do some cutting stuck them in there and drew some guidelines Snug but they fit! Decided to try my hand at doing these inserts came off easy enough! made a spot for the dmax emblem This took two tries first one just didnt sink in enough and even this one could have been a little better but I'm pleased with it, probably should have cleaned off the foam and redone the foam but I dont have foam skills, so it it doesnt hold up I'll see if I can get a pro to do that for me! Now the door pods took a couple hours and lots of breaks because it was frustrating as hell!!!!! ended up making a few reliefs and some cuts here and there to get it to form right but damn I am glad I did it!! came out pretty good, just sucks I have to do another one oh well that's tomorrow or Fridays project. Super snug fit and very heavy with both speakers in there, good thing the pods are solid Sorry no pics of them being wrapped because I was soo frustrated haha. The tweeter rings are just sitting on there for pics, have to clean the mounts better because of the adhesive spray gunked them up a bit.....woops! soo its coming together, could have saved some time by not making the door pods soo smooth and fixing all the little things because they are completely covered up by the vinyl but oh well! goodvibez Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 Soo threw the door panel on this morning and assumed there were no clearence issues. It does rub slightly after adding the vinyl, but just barely barely barely that I'm not worried Also didnt think about the parking brake, got lucky with that one! scarred the crap out of me when I noticed Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it.
