Thanks man, have to give credit to SEM. The texture paint is really easy to work with and comes out pretty clean! I recommend it for sure :D

Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. The people who criticize or try and one up you....have a p.o.s to no system at all and will tell you all about this "other" guys system! Saddley I'm sure if I meet this "other" guy...he will probably tell me he thinks your just as annoying as I think you are!

I'm not compensating, just proud of fabricating!

how are you attaching them to the door gotz to know bro

Haha it's a secret....jk man honestly I didn't think it would work as well as it does but just using the little metal tabs that are on it and just bending them once they are in the slots works pretty damn well like I have a habit of slamming my door fairly hard and when I had my driver side door installed those things were solid in there :) and because I have added mass all the way around the edges its a very snug fit so I really have to "mash" them in there...........carefully though! ;)

I do know that the more you bend those tabs back and forth the more they get brittle and eventually fall off, so with the extra grill material that was originally cut out for the speakers I saved that and can cut strips out of it then CA glue them and essentially make a new tab that is beefier by doubling it up if I want to.

another way would be to run screws from the backside of the door panel into the back of the door pod, even get some threaded inserts so I can take the pods in and out several times and not strip the screws if that makes sense?

For now I'll just use it how I have been doing it....so far so good, but I have thought of ways to mount them if that doesn't end up being a proven method :)

Alright so got some work in today finished the passenger side speaker pod that was giving me issues because it wouldn't fit.

Sanded it then re textured it and got it in....still on the snug side but it fits much better :)

Also decided to use black insted of the pewter grey color matched to factory just to see if I liked it...I think it works well with the carbon fiber I like it....if not oh well I still have the color match paint and the black I used it a great primer so won't be hard to change but moving on.....

Then I went about fixing the driver's side insert...the remaining foam wasn;t letting the new vinyl stick and kept peeling up so I took an air sander to the foam and got it down to the base plastics and redid the vinyl.....came out 100% better and I'm glad I did it :).....Also did passenger side same process

Laid down flat then tucked and cut!

and presto finally got it where it looks like it should have the first time lol. If I have enough left over I might try doing the bottom inserts as well but for now it's fine! That bottom strip gets super dirty from swinging your feet in and out all the time so yeah

So passenger side is done just need to wire it up which will be done hopefully this weekend if I can get the drivers side pods finished.

look familiar? Yeah, spent about 3 hours today just sanding this thing and got about a 1/3 of it done :( still lots left but at least its coming off! Took for ever to eat through the rocker liner texture I used on the dash, was a little scared it wouldnt come off and I would have just screwed myself completly out of a dash but looks like I can salvage this :)

Just going to take a while to get it all off, prep and then texturize and paint it again...but it's worth it I guess

So plan for this week is to finish the doors and dash and get them wired to the b pillar where all the x-overs are mounted, then start on the c-pillar speaker pods...lot's o' fun! I'ts 2 A.M. and I'm cashed so hope for more updates everyday this week!

So finished sanding my dash tonight :) Got all the old texture off....probably about 6 hours of solid sanding.....no joke!

The casualties lol

2014-03-26_19-24-53_960_zps804568fa.jpg

I think the worst part of this is that most people do this much sanding to get their dash perfectly smooth and get rid of all texture which is what this is right now, and now I get to undo what I just spent 6 hours doing and add texture......? Weird I know but I couldn't stand having all those bubbles and now they are all gone!

Going to add a little bit of strength to this so it hopefully won't felx and cause the bondo to crack or anything like that. So used a 24grit sanding disk on a angle grinder and roughed it all up so it has a better chance of bonding. Best thing to do would be drill tons of holes....I may go back and do that because I still have to go back and touchup a few areas on the plastic filler/bondo.

Trust me I am sick of seeing these too! Ready for them and the dash to be done! Then I get to start on the c-pillars...oh joy(sarcasim)!
