goodvibez Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 finally got my phone to take a decent picture of under the hood...added some air hose line on the ac line that the alt wires sort of touch so it would keep it from melting anything Also got something in the mail from SMD today That's a good amount of SMD mail! How did you do the graphics on the rockford? Rockford did that for a while they had like 4 different airbrushed designs to choose from and was avaliable on all the power series. I needed a 600.4 and this was the same price as one that didnt have the graphics...so I went with graphics lol....any other info you would have to check with them because I don't see them for sale anymore and I don't know if it was an outsourced thing? I'm just glad I got mine while they were avaliable Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. The people who criticize or try and one up you....have a p.o.s to no system at all and will tell you all about this "other" guys system! Saddley I'm sure if I meet this "other" guy...he will probably tell me he thinks your just as annoying as I think you are! I'm not compensating, just proud of fabricating! goodvibez Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 soo been lazy as shit lately been trying to get all my crap figured out for my trip to germany soo this got put on the back burner but finally got my motivation back and got some ground cables made up for the rear batteries, and also got another 40 lugs ordered from SHCA(FTMFW)! Just a side note; Mr. Rabe is one of the coolest guys to deal with, even being a small customer like I am the dude still replies back and makes me feel like even though he is suuuper busy( he doesn't actually say he is busy but there is no question the guy is swamped 24/7) he still gives a shit about taking care of all his customers..for that he has earned my respect andall the buisness I can throw his way lol! delt with plenty of other places that don't feel the need give you a reply more than a full sentence or answer more than one of your questions....not saying everyone is like that but been seeing it happen more and more where you get reponces that just are not very clear and just soundslike you are irritating them by sending an email asking 2-3 questions...smh really makes a customer feel like all you care about is if they will actually get a sale out of you....90% of the time I still end up purchaing from them but feel like I don't know what exactly I just paid for(not always but you know what i mean) enough rant here's a couple pics...sorry nothing too awesome tech flexed with the fire retardant stuff just because it will be next to the positive runs and just left some extra cable because I'm not sure exactly how long they all need to be. kinda awkward drillling the big hole but luckly I got it...then added another gromet this is also one made for trailer lights...probably going to use these more often little silicone so the gromet stays done! scooter99 Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Damn that's nice man. Nicely done. I know it's been well documented about me and my love for clean wiring, but damn the flex just sets it off. On SHCA, you're absolutely spot on. It's just hard to believe that someone as busy as Jon can take the time out of his schedule to actually talk to someone about what direction their going and give advise or suggestions and just have an overall great way about the way he carries the name of that business. It's second to none and is an absolute template to how people should run their business. Keep it coming. I didn't see, did you crimp or solder your connections? If crimp, what do you have and where did you get it. I'm a solder guy, but I'm thinking I may crimp all the truck connections. Soldering all the connections on the civic build took a ton of time. I know the connections and trust that they're solid, but that's a lot of time in a build where I don't have a lot of time to work in the first place. Can't wait to see more! goodvibez Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Thanks man! Agreed that the tech flex does set it off andmakes it looks super clean! But I will admit you cannot tie the wire in a knot like you cant when its off...it does constrict it more and because of that I'll just be using naked SHCA wire inside the truck....the alt wires running to the back batts will be covered but thats it it's too tight of an area around my buss bars for 30 connections to be making such tight bends that I dont think it will benefit being covered anyway...Fine by me I think the wire looks great by its self! I switch to crimping on this build, picked up a 16ton crimper off ebay like everyone lol...just wish it was sold with die's labeld 4awg,1/0,2/0 and so forth...I do not understand metric electrical lol! I can send you a link to the one I have...it's in a couple photo's here, same one mead just got and used on his new toy Not bashing on soldering, it's awesome, gives you some confidence in the connection....but I double crimp all the ends and I have to say it almost compresses all the strands into a solid chunk of copper lol soo much easier! Also is nice because I don't have to worry about being too hot and melting the coating on my wire...fairly easy to do. If SHCA came out with a similar lug that had an opening to run solder into after its been crimped...I would do that! I've used some from a local place here in town that do that but freak man it was like 4 bucks a lug....ppthhhhbbbbbbbt! Not worth that Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. scooter99 Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Yeah I totally get it. I had that issue with mine too. When I do the truck I'm doing it totally different. TOTALLY DIFFERENT! Yeah if you could link me that'd be great. I may just pick one up. Jon should come out with a crimper to crimp those damn large lugs! I'll tell him that when I see him this weekend. I'm sure he's already thought of that. He's pretty with it on new products. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
goodvibez Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Cool man looking forward to that build! I think he does keep a few around because people do ask often what he uses for crimping but that is an assumption, pretty sure the one he uses is the same as mine I think I saw a glimpse of it in one of his build logs...but I'll pm you a link you know what I'll just leave it here as well in case anyone else reads this and is wondering. I'm jelly you get to go to events he is at there in cali...if he came to az I'd definitely make the effort...but hopefully when this is done I'll be making some road trips around the country to see/hear some rides but one thing at a time lol...lots left to do to this thing! http://www.ebay.com/itm/16-Ton-Hydraulic-Wire-Battery-Cable-Lug-Terminal-Crimper-Crimping-Tool-11-Dies-/360798635074?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5401464442 Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it.
