Swordlordboy1234 Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 Have you ever went from rear firing to forward firing but sealing wasn't until a couple days later, and found the huge difference of output after facing forward (losing output) before sealing it off? I'm getting slightly scared from the huge loss of output lol. purplesyrup Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 the statement i have heard many times is it has to be sealed to work, other wise there is a loss I have never sealed into the car, but from going from rear to forward firing just experimenting, not only do you loose a lot of output, but the low end drops off really bad, but sealing into the car is supposed to fix all that

So we threw my old box back in facing forward and at least got the amps in the proper place. But the stupid crazy loss of output just got me worried. Lol. I went from ear o meter mid 45's to sounding like I could hardly bass race a 29.9 lol My old YouTube channel : http://www.youtube.com/user/SwordLords1234?feature=mhee My old build log : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/161872-96-accord-b2-sundown-sky-high-dc-power-re-re-build-for-heatwave/page-37 My New Build - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/207041-2016-mazda-6-sql-build/ 2016 Mazda 6 Touring JL Fix 86 - OEM signal correction B2 prototype DSP 6to8 B2 Ref63 - 3 way active set 2 B2 Class H quattro's 1 B2 Zero.5R @.5 2 B2 HNv3 12 d2 B2 SLIP40 - Lithium in the trunk Northstar Group 35 under the hood 100ft 2/0 welding cable 30ft 4ga welding cable 20ft 8ga welding cable All stinger OFC speaker wire Soundrive custom RCA's Tons of attention to detail.... OrionStang Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 All depends on the car. I didn't lose anything turning it around, and sealing off had no audible effect and only gained a few tenths on the meter. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
Swordlordboy1234 Posted June 9, 2013 Author Report Posted June 9, 2013 All depends on the car. I didn't lose anything turning it around, and sealing off had no audible effect and only gained a few tenths on the meter. Very car dependent, your right stang. But I can have video proof, less flex, less mirror / cup holder items movement and a 9+ db drop to the ear lol. I don't know I'm just hoping for one person to tell me how they lost crazy output till it was sealed off then it was loud again. I hope a 96 accord sedan isn't one of those cars that is loudest facing the rear. purplesyrup Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 gotta remember sword, once you seal you are cutting off all that trunk area also, so the over all specs of how the sub will react in the car have 110% changed again
Integra_boomer Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 In my experience it has to be sealed completly off to be louder by ear, ive seen some ppl fire forward without sealing and get high numbers. Its all on the car. Also every sealed off setup ive had it always jumped up on frequency, so there is loss in lower end but dont really need it if your trying to be loud. 1995 Integra GSR (DB8) Pioneer 3200-DVD 6.5 rockford fosgate 2-way fronts 6.5 rockford fosgate 3-way rear saz-3000D (2) 12" SA-12s

And run 3x the power as you do SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
n8ball2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 cannot compare rear firing to forward firing without sealing off. yes without it sealed off it will be quieter lacking on the low end etc. Seal it off good and it will return. chances are more so as well.
