just rebuilt and tweaked my system and i find now that distortion is nearly all gone with the exception of a few songs but my tweets are getting very warm. id say about the same temperature of a hair dryer. they are SPC-60 alpine tweets.

should i be worried?

nothing, gutted

Some heat is to be expected any time you apply power to a load.

They shouldn't be getting hot hot but warm is fine

all right. well all of my speakers and subs get warm cones but none of them are to hot to touch. id say the tweets are easily the hottest out of hte bunch but they also have metal grills so it makes sense they would be warmer. when ever im driving my stereo is always near max volume

nothing, gutted

Turn the volume down or drop the treble on your EQ. The metal grille is there to protect the dome from getting pushed in, not to wick heat away. Tweeter voice coils are very small, and they're not going to last forever driven that hard.

Your tweets should not get hot at all if they are even getting wam you are overpowering them distorting them or both or even xovered wrong my tweets play LOUD and allways stay cool to the touch uunless sitting in direct sunlight

Warm/hot tweets are bad mmmmkay

Have you ever had your woofers blown?

I was going to day check the crossovers. I've never had tweets get even warm

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
