Tahoe 2013/2014/2015 RF, FI, XS, SQ, TM, etc...

Recommended Posts

Haha, fair analysis. Get some times hooked up to see for sure, yes. I can't WAIT to hear with some well rounded music playing ;)

Thanks man, yea, sorry but I am still AMAZED how bad a system can sound with NO mids and highs. Hearing is believing, lol.

I will start to tinker with mids/highs Thursday night but otherwise hope to have updates by the end of the weekend.

Looking good. Are subs sounding good with what you heard?

How you liking those fi's?

To answer both of you.......I really don't know, I am used to highs/mids playing along with the bass so as is it's so hard to tell. I mean yes, generally speaking but the interior rattles when you turn it up so there is so much added noise on top of the bass it just doesn't sound good without mids/highs. Same as Kyle a while back always playing his with no mids/highs.

Is it loud, yes.

Is there flex, yes.

Does it sound clean, yes.

I thought I would have a better idea of things by hooking up the subs and playing them but it's amazing how much mids/highs add to the listening equation, honestly. Sorry I have no good answer, just the way it is for now.

BUT, I am *thinking* it is not quite as loud as my 4 Rockford T2 15" I ran last summer which I thought would happen. Same power, less motor force and cone area, but if it was a straight up 2 to 2 comparison....there would be no comparison.

Without even finishing I am thinking about adding 2 more of these 15" FI SP4's ans switching to 4 amps with 3500 boards. But I don't want to copy Kyle. =/

Time for some mids and highs and go from there first though.

I don't think anyone is going to call you out for copying. Loud is loud man and that would be a sick setup!!

Dont copy me,.... im not loud. :(

Im a lil surprised though. Obi had a Aq2200, and it pushed them pretty well. Id expect your seeing even more ??. I dunno.

That said, he has a lot of volume. over 5cf per. Either way, im a lil surprised. But, slap a 3.5k on each, and bare down. ;)

What do you mean? Like from my videos his moved more than mine? In my videos they were basically hooked up, amps set up then I made the videos. Plus with my PCM controlled alt voltage is never above 13.8 but I would assume they were moving pretty much as much as they will on these amps...IDK....I've been known to be wrong many times before, lol

Mine are just shy of 5 cubes net per sub so close there. I am torn, I love these constant power Rockfords but wish they were a 3.5k board, so if I go to a 3.5k board I then lose out on roughly the same power at 2 ohms. dat rise

oh well, good enough for now. Still waiting on gear anyways so meh, fuck it for now, since I can't finish I care very little right now.

Was surprised you? Videos of said 2200 on SP4's? lol

EDIT: I never said but in the videos amps were set with -7.5 tone (Thanks Snowdrifter)

Why -7.5 most music that is rebassed is at -5 and lowest I have seen is -3 you just want to be extra safe?

I was just commenting on your

I would have though this set up, even with less cone, would POUND.

Peeps with Fi, can get away with it......... lulz... just playing. ;)

um, just seemed common as of recently, thought I would try it. Last summer I tried the -5, -10, and 0 that came with the DD-1 but I thought I would try the inbtween ones this summer.

In time I hope to try them all and see how things go.

I am curious what you set your to?

I don't have a Term Lab or a O-scope so it's just Ear-0-meter for me so I have to play it safe till I advance myself down the road.

I appreciate any and all concerns/thoughts on what I am doing, I am still learning and love insight and to be told if I fucked up or not. Thanks

I thought you might be disappointed going from 4 15"s to 2. I figured you just wanted to try different equipment.

Thanks for the vids. Those rockford amps are so sexy with their output meters.

Yeah, it does sound weird when you only play subs. I sold a pair of rockford series1 15"s and an amp to a guy way back in the day that he threw in his van. I didn't realize it, but the subs were the only speakers he had. He told me he moved "that filter switch" and he thought it sounded pretty good. He was running the subs full range.

I did want to try different equipment. 2 - 15" fit a lot better so i figured I would also get better subs IMO which would somewhat make up for going to 2. Yes, I love watching those meters, haha. That guy back in the day is funny, although I wouldn't mind hearing someones else's equipment with subs in full range, LOL

Also, today I retuned to volume 36, used the -10 track (for fun) and installed and tuned one of my CT Sounds 60.4 running 4 RF T3 mids (no tweets) although it sounds muddy without the tweets I at least have words for tonight, lol,

Those subs fucking slam though.....my middle amp rack moves more than I would like for having amps on it. The sub amp rack thing has 2 - 2x4's screwed to the box behind it so it's solid but the mids/highs rack no so much. Need to come up with something else for that, UGH!!

Subs get a little warm to the touch (dust cap) but amps amps get pretty damned hot, I mean I can keep/hold my hand on them no problem but wow, they be warm. 3 songs pretty loud with no air movement though (parked) No videos though, they would basically look the same as the others.
