Brandonbkd
Those amps are not 1 ohm stable, so no. Trying to run more power is not your fix in this situation. A 5 lb sledgehammer is going to be your best friend here. Step 1) Take your subs out Step 2) Take the sledge in your dominant hand with a firm grip Step 3) Knock the piss out of the baffle Step 4) Take every piece of wood from the newly destroyed box BACK to the shop that "designed" and built it Step 5) Drop the pieces at their feet Step 6) Give them the finger and then walk out Step 7) Get someone that knows what they're doing to help you with a proper re-build Step Never return to that shop EVER Haha someone has really been thinking this out FI BL18 Build Log: CLICK HERE!! 2003 Explorer Sport: FI BL18 SoundQubed 2200 at 0.7ohm Pioneer DEH-2500UI Pioneer 6 x 8s Rockford Fosgate 6 x 9s 5 ft^3 box at 35hz Lots of Mega Mat
CleanSierra
Yeah, it just upsets me when I see a guy get taken advantage of, which I'm not POSITIVE took place here since I didn't actually witness the conversation between Zak and the shop. If they told him what he told me that told him, then he was taken advantage of. I hate to see nice equipment go into an install and not perform well. To pay good money and trust a shop, and not get results is upsetting. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Zak Massey
I'm not saying that would fix the issue I was just wondering if it was possible. I have been waiting to order the second sub because I was so confused as to why the first had such little excursion. Also I've heard of people running them at .7ohms so I figured it may be okay. To address the I actually have a bunch of paperwork that says the chambers were at 5.27 cuft each and the port was exactly right from the shop. That should be proof enough that they absolutely took advantage of me. I spoke to them on the phone today, not productive. The guy that builds the box's is on vacation so I have to call again on Wednesday. I'll give more of an update on what they tell me Wednesday. Zak Massey
The guy at the shop, over the phone, told me that I was wrong. Didn't let me get a word in, just insisted that I was wrong. So sometime in the next week I'll be taking the car back to show them how very wrong they are. CleanSierra
You know what you could do, just got piece of mind and to have the best weapon, knowledge if you're going to approach the shop? Take that sub out, get as GOOD of internal measurements as you can, and post them here so we can run the numbers. Also post the EXACT width of the port and if you can, the length of the port, including the bend. That would be great so we can REALLY check the volume issue. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Zak Massey
Can do, It will be about a week before I head up to the shop. Zak Massey
Chamber: 21-3/16 x 18-1/2 x 20. Port: 16 x 18-1/2 x 2.5 With the depth of the port I measured to where the wood partition ends if I measure straight back to the rear wall of the chamber its 22-1/2 Edit: 16 inches was first port depth measurement. CleanSierra
With a quick running of those numbers, I get 3.5 cubes for that chamber tuned to 34 Hz with port area that is on the low side, only 45" of port. So that confirms you don't have nearly enough air for 2 18s. You DO have enough for 2 15s though and they would like that airspace. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
