I have two Sundown SA 12's D2 but I've been looking at what amp I want to run the two. The question is will a Crescendo BC2000D be too much power for the woofers? I usually like to stay near RMS as kind of a "safety" thing but if I were to wire the box down to a 1 ohm final load meaning the amp will be doing around 2250 at 13.8 so each woofer will be getting around 1100 watts. Will it cook them or do y'all think the SA's can handle it?

AND if it helps my box is 6 cubes net tuned to 34 hz.

6 cubes for 2 12's? why?! thats gigantic! literally needs to be half that size. and thats not a maybe.

the woofers wont see 2k. probably like 1500rms, if that even. voltage drop + box rise = never getting rated power out of the amp.

Thermally, they can handle it if you aren't an idiot and clip everything.

Mechanically? In that box? No way. Not a chance.

Sundown calls for 2.5 spec for a SA 12 so the box designer at my work is taking a gamble to see how it sounds and if it sounds like shit we're going to build a 5 cube box

Sweet! & I'm weird about distortion so the amp will be tuned correctly without a doubt

gotta love voltage drop and box rise lol

that amp will be just fine for those subs man. just set gains correctly. that box is a little to big..

What the others have said. And I'm not sure what your goals are with that box. I have my all of my 8 8's in a box that size.. And I use a 450.1 in that car on those subs. Clamp your amp someday, You'll be surprised. Or depressed rather. Two of those little SA8's have taken the whole amp before I built the current box. They would get stinky if I beat the piss out of them for 5 mins or more, but still it gives you an idea..

dont be scared of big boxes. I ran a DD 3512 in a 3.5 cube box before. Didnt care. even had it on 4k. Still didnt care. Did a 145.9 too
