soundstream15
im running 3500rms on a stock alt..smh. i have a kitneik hc2400 in the back, big 3 and running 1/0awg. also yellow top under the hood. i do wanna upgrade my hc2400 to a xs power d3100 i think it would work better. but im dropping to 11.7volts. once the bass hits its like 12.3 then after like 4 sec it goes to 11.7 and stay around 11.7 to 11.9 i played 27hz and it went to 11.3. now keep in mind when i say it goes this low i turn it down. i had to give someone a demo but this is while driving. at idle i dont even know what its at. but i fee like my stock alt just cant take it anymore. if i where to get a bigger alt, does this actually make a difference but i know some of you run stock alts and a few batteries and have no issues. sorry if this seems kinda dumb, i just want some input
kl0wn
A high output alternator will always help. A battery bank only helps but so much. When your amp starts pulling current, whatever your alternator can't support, will get taken from the batteries. So, the more amperage your alternator puts out, the less it'll take from your batteries. 06 Mini Cooper S Sundown, SoundQubed Cadence, XS Power 151s Sealed 155s Outlaw Windshield @ 37hz

justin0943
the extra battery is good for so long when the alt don't have enough amps it uses the battery for power so your running 3500rms you need the highest alt and a good batterys under the hood and for the back.an also what year is you car if its in the newer range the alt is control by computer and only charges to 13.5v instead of 14+ 02 dodge ram 1500 reg cab 3rd gen 2 sundown sd-2 d4 soundstream rub1.2500 amp all sky high car audio-fuse,fuse holder, wire, ring lugs and rca flex tech box design by Joe X supension-mcgaughys 2in drop spindal ,western chassis 6in flip kit, buddy custom c-notch 04 5.7l hemi motor swap and made it an slt eletric everthing youtube channel-http://www.youtube.c...43?feature=mhee http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/190882-02-dodge-ram-1500-3rd-gen/
Pioneerchuck
You can add batteries all day long but unless you are making power to replace what is being pulled from the batteries than you're just draining the batteries. The larger alt will keep the batteries from draining so quickly.

justin0943
I think it is control by the computer I look at a pic of the alt an it has a 5pin plug, the only reason I know is because my alt don't have a plug but I will ask to see if it is for sure. 02 dodge ram 1500 reg cab 3rd gen 2 sundown sd-2 d4 soundstream rub1.2500 amp all sky high car audio-fuse,fuse holder, wire, ring lugs and rca flex tech box design by Joe X supension-mcgaughys 2in drop spindal ,western chassis 6in flip kit, buddy custom c-notch 04 5.7l hemi motor swap and made it an slt eletric everthing youtube channel-http://www.youtube.c...43?feature=mhee http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/190882-02-dodge-ram-1500-3rd-gen/

banginhummer
if he has the 3.8 motor, I had a dc 270xp on mine, and it helped ALOT, had mechman voltage adjuster, and set voltage charge point to 15.1, and my voltage didn't drop under 14.6 at full tilt, I was running a sundown 3500 as well. I had one d2700 under the hood with 4 d3100 in the rear. *Hummer H3* HeadUnit Pioneer AVH-X4600BT Mids and Highs 8-CT Sounds Pro 8" 8ohm 4-CT Sounds Pro Tweeters Amplifiers 1-CT Sounds 125.4 1-CT Sounds 60.4 1-CT Sounds 7000.1 Electrical 3-Runs of 1/0 CT Sounds 8-XS Power D3100 3-Iraggi 300 amp Alternators Subwoofers 4-SQ Hdc3 15" Subwoofers (Soon to be 4 15" Ct Sounds EXO)
