Monte Carlo power window is intermittent

Recommended Posts

my 99 monte's driver window usually works but sometimes when going either up or down, the window will slow down then stop like a half second later.

the passenger window is completely fine and the motor is original. the driver window motor has been replaced like 7-8 years ago.

i've read that sometimes the window control switch goes bad for my car so i bought a new one. problem still occurs.

any ideas guys?

p.s i didn't know if i should have put this thread in this section, or the interiors section.

Not sure if it would be fused anywhere, but its worth checking along with the condition of the switch wires.

Have you tried to use the switch in the door and move the wire grommet that feeds the wires through the door panel around to see if it makes the window lose control at all? I would see maybe if you can get a friend to help with this by having them hold the window up or down button depending on the position of the window and move around the wires that get fed into your drivers door to see if it affects the window. Then take the passenger door and do the same thing by moving the wires around a little where they get fed into the door to see if it stops it at all. If it does that means you have either a cut or exposed wire and it can be fixed easily.

Another thing to try is to double check the grounds on the motor. My ex's piece of shit honda had one window that would be slow sometimes and other times would not work at all. I found that by slamming the door really hard it would get it to work just fine for awhile then get back to screwing up. The grounds were all tight and rust free so idk what was loose in the door but slamming it was a temp fix.
