jarrius Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 Do a rf prime 1200d mine for the 2 if you want to run 2krms make sure you have the electrical to back it up. Some people run 2k on stock but I would not. 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
Watch the bass Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 First 2 dual 2 subs can be wired http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp?submitted=true&woofer_qty=2&woofer_imp=3 so you need a 0.5 Ohm stable amp or a a amp that does 2 K on 2 Ohm. The cheapest offer i kow is a manufacture refurbished Lanzar Opti http://www.ebay.com/itm/OPTI2000D-Optidrive-2000W-Half-Ohm-Stable-Mono-Block-Digital-Competition-Amp-/400543382759?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item5d423efce7 in new their 50 higher and up. For true 2 K watt´s on 2 Ohm you need a 3.5 K watt amp like a DC 3.5 K or SQ 3.5 K there going use for 500 and up. The linked Autotek amp does arround 1400 watt´s @ 1 Ohm (140 amp fusing), or 800 on 2 Ohm. The other question, can your electrical system backup true 2 K watt´s? Sutliff Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 That would only put out 500 watts im looking to put out the full 1000 Dare I say that it is not always about shoving every last acceptable watt to attain the sound a given driver will output? bbeljefe Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 Do you have at least 2 gauge power wire and the big 3? It doesn't matter what you spend on an amp that will produce 2000 watts, if you don't send it the voltage and current it needs to do so, it will just roast the coils in those subs. You'd be far better off with a 1000 watt amp on good electrical than a 2000 watt amp on mediocre electrical. bbeljefe Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 It's the same gauge wire you use for the amplifier, connected from alternator positive post to battery (1), alternator case (or engine) to chassis (2) and battery ground to chassis (3). The alternator is the main source of power when the vehicle is running, not the battery(s). Thus, the amplifier needs to have a direct power line from the alternator, not just the battery(s). Most people who have installed the big three and who have accessories like power windows even notice a remarkable improvement in how well those operate. It's If you're at or near a 1000 watts of total power, it's really important that the electrical system be adequate. wrexxy Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 If you set your gains "right", you will only be seeing max output at whatever HU volume level you had while you set your gains. So even if you got a 2000 watt rms amplifier and you set the gains with your HU at its "max" nonclipping volume, you'll only be seeing those 2000 watts rms while your HU is "maxxed". any NEW decent 2000 watt amp is going to be ~$500. if you run 0.5 your going to need a quality amp. and at 2 ohm your going to spend more $$ to get 2000, though it'll be safer for all the components than running 0.5 ohms. if you had bought 2 DVC 4ohm subs you could have wired it down to 1 ohm
john253a Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 Idd rec the sq2200 But if its out it out If your happy with 5-700 a piece The sq-1200 will to 12-1400@14v And is $269 http://www.soundqubed.com/Q1-1200D-Amplifier_p_30.html Under $200 The onx range arnt a bad amp for the money http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_44471_MB-Quart-ONX1.2000D.html Another cheap amp with a little quality http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_67935_Hifonics-BRX2000.1D.html Not sure how much you want to spend But you'll need 2-250 per 1000rms to get something decent So for a good 2k amp you really need $450
BigManAC Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 I second the RF Prime 1200D. Im not sure if the Type R's will do or even sound good on 1k a piece.
