silverado00 Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 I just put 4 10" kicker comp rts in my single cab 2000 silverado and i need amp suggestions at a 2 ohm load, they say they can handle 600 watts rms per sub, so i was thinking around 1600 w rms would be a safe number to run any opinions greatly appreciated.
mmets Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 DC audio 3.5k- 1800 at 2ohm just a thought. Not a dealer or part of the company but do have a 175.4 and a 5K. love the amps. Personally I would stay away from name brands like kicker, jl, kenwood etc. I am in no way saying their products are bad. They all have good stuff but I have learned that if you go away from the name brand best buy brands you can get more bang for your buck. I have owned kicker amps, jl, crunch -which sucks, pioneer and re audio and a few others. And with the 3.5k you can always upgrade your speakers and push something more going down to 1 ohm with good electrical. Just my thought though. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/177477-slowboring-07-trailblazer-build/Pioneer DEH-80PRSPRV 8MR400-NDY (eight) PRV TW350Ti (6)Sky High 1/0 OFC, 12 gauge and 8 gaugeTM Metalworkz battery terminals 120 sqft HushmatXS Power D3100 (6)Singer 350 Amp Alt Singer 320 (2)American Bass SQL3200 JL Audio JX360/4 Crossfire XS 8K (2) DC Audio XL 15s (6)
john253a Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 CompRTS or compRT Because I've never herd of a crts What coil config do you have For 2 final I'm guessing you have the d1 If you are 2ohm final that's going to make your amps a lot more expensive then they need to be As 1ohm final is more cost affective If you want to stick with kicker the zx2500.1 is what idd use You could wire to 0.5 ohm if you have elec to support it Other amps to look at Dc 5k (2300@2) Dc 3.5 (1800@2) Sq q1-3500 (2600@2) T-2500 If you have d2 youll save a ton of coin and half the amp price idd go with the sq q1-2200

john253a Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 If the box is split into 2 separate chambers You could run 2x sq q1-1200d @$260 each On 1ohm I there in the same chamber I wouldn't run 2 amps unless there straped

silverado00 Posted August 21, 2013 Author Report Posted August 21, 2013 Really wish i went with a 1 0hm final load now, thanks for all the options but how reliable is an amp at .5 daily? Also why could i not run 2 amps with a single chamber?
Sergeant_Skyrim Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 Really wish i went with a 1 0hm final load now, thanks for all the options but how reliable is an amp at .5 daily? Also why could i not run 2 amps with a single chamber? You don't want to run 2 amps in a single chamber unless they're strapped (master-slave connection) because of the variations between the gain settings. You may end up setting one amp to where it's pushing more power than the other, which in a single chamber sub box would cause some subs to work harder than others in the same airspace. You'd end up stressing your subs over time basically As for an amp at .5 daily, don't take this as offensive but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have really good electrical and have the expertise of having done car audio for a while Build in progress
